The most competitively viable platform fighter ever made if the human race was even remotely competent at critical analysis. This should be the most played game on the planet, we failed as a species.
THIS IS THE MOST FUN IVE EVER HAD PLAYING A PLATFORM FIGHTER I PROMISE!!!!!! PLEASE PLAY THIS!!!!!!!!
Time of review says 4 hours, but it's closer to 100 if you count local at a friends house. Better than Smash Ultimate. Better than Rivals of Aether (1 and 2). Better than Fraymakers. Better than Smash Melee. You'd be hard pressed to find a better and more fun plat fighter.
Slap City is easily the best platform fighter I've played to date, I'm pretty late to the party on this one but damn do I feel like a fool for passing it up for so long. It just FEELS good to play, every character also brings a different archetype and mechanics to the table that manage to make each of them feel very standout. There's also so many stages and so much technical depth that it really does feel like a game for everyone, which many smash-like games seem to usually lack.
the Business Casual Man is simply the GOAT!
This game is so good that it actually had me excited for Nintendo All Star Brawl at one point.
fun and creative movesets, movement feels great, substantial singleplayer content, both competitive and goofy gimmicky stages, basically everything you could ask for out of a platform fighter
Not a hidden gem. You aren't missing anything.
Best platform fighter on steam and maybe of all time.
Firstly, I wanna plug the official Discord. It's still active, and matches are really easy to find! It's even got an active tournament scene!! Check it out here: https://discord.gg/JXHwHsHa Now for the review proper -w- This is the best platform fighter of all time. It's got the schmovement and it's got the whimsy, and every character is shockingly well-balanced. I cannot emphasize enough how good this game feels to control. I have no idea what they did, but it just feels *good*. The clutch button is a stroke of inspiration. This is the only game with Clutch Technology, and it shows. Instantly reverse the momentum of certain moves?? Tech with a dedicated button?? Put up a shield that bounces you backwards?? Every aspect of this game is just sheer delight to control. It doesn't take itself seriously, and in that it's able to experiment and play. That sheer love radiates from every pixel, and it somehow makes a game that's fun and silly *and* competitively balanced. You can play as Goddess of Explosions!! Ultra Fishbunjin 3000!! Princess Remedy!!! The game of the year, every year. If you love plat fighters, this is a must-have. Give it a try!! I guarantee you'll have a blast
