While this game is not totally my cup of tea, I find the VR and NON-VR version option rolled into one was a nice added bonus(touch)! While I may never play this game again I found that this is a good strategy/simulation game that if one might enjoy. The game offers Campaign, scrimmage and Multi-player, I think that a game with options like these will deliver. While I did not give this game a glowing review I still feel it is not bad, however I found the options slim, example; no way to quit the game, the music was lame(more tacks would been a bonus) and the graphics where very early 90s. But once again that is how I saw the game and you may perceive it differently. You might just find this game special.
OK, but for the money it's rather repetitive and rock paper scissorsy, I'd get the whole bundle on sale were I you.
Thought id give it a try on oculus rift to see if it worked and it does seem to work fine. I purchased the bungle and all games work with rift with touch, took the chance because you can always refund, anyways it all seems good.
Skylight is a focused and thoughtfully designed space tactics game that places strategic planning above spectacle, inviting players to command large-scale fleet engagements through deliberate, turn-based decision-making. Rather than overwhelming the player with micromanagement or complex simulations, the game frames each battle as a test of foresight and positioning, where success depends on anticipating enemy intent and committing to a plan before the fighting begins. The premise is simple but effective: you are a fleet commander directing multiple classes of ships across vast three-dimensional battlefields, watching your orders unfold in tense, simultaneous resolutions that reward smart prediction rather than reflexes. At the core of the experience is a turn-based system where both sides secretly issue commands, then observe the outcome as movements, attacks, and maneuvers play out at the same time. This structure gives Skylight a unique rhythm compared to traditional turn-based or real-time strategy games. Each turn feels weighty, as there is no opportunity to react mid-execution; once orders are locked in, you must live with the consequences. This design encourages careful analysis of enemy positioning, weapon ranges, and likely behaviors, turning each engagement into a mental duel rather than a test of speed. When a plan works, watching a coordinated fleet maneuver succeed is deeply satisfying. Fleet composition plays a major role in shaping how battles unfold. Skylight offers a variety of ship types, from fast and fragile fighters to durable capital ships capable of soaking damage and delivering devastating firepower. Each unit has a clear role, and learning how to combine them effectively is key to long-term success. Lighter ships can harass or distract, while heavier vessels anchor formations and control space. The interplay between speed, range, and durability gives battles a strong tactical identity, where positioning often matters more than raw numbers. The campaign mode introduces these concepts gradually, guiding players through a series of increasingly complex scenarios. While the narrative framing is minimal and largely functional, it serves its purpose by providing structure and motivation without getting in the way of gameplay. Missions often focus on specific tactical challenges, such as holding territory, breaking through defensive lines, or surviving against superior forces. Over time, objectives become more demanding, pushing players to think several turns ahead and adapt their strategies rather than relying on a single dominant approach. Beyond the campaign, Skylight offers skirmish and multiplayer modes that significantly extend its longevity. Skirmish battles allow for experimentation with different fleet compositions and tactics, while multiplayer introduces an entirely different layer of depth. Because matches are asynchronous, players can take their time planning moves without needing to coordinate schedules, making competitive play more thoughtful and accessible. Facing human opponents often exposes weaknesses in strategies that work well against AI, highlighting the game’s underlying depth. Visually, the game adopts a clean and stylized sci-fi presentation that prioritizes clarity over realism. Ships are easy to distinguish, movement paths are clearly communicated, and battle outcomes are readable even when multiple engagements happen simultaneously. This emphasis on visual readability reinforces the tactical nature of the game, ensuring that players can focus on strategy rather than deciphering cluttered visuals. Sound design complements the experience with understated effects that convey scale and impact without overwhelming the player. That said, Skylight is not without its limitations. The lack of a strong narrative or character-driven elements may leave some players wanting more context or emotional investment. Mission structures, while varied enough to support the mechanics, can occasionally feel repetitive over long sessions. There are also moments where unit behavior may not align perfectly with player expectations, reminding you that the game’s elegance comes from abstraction rather than simulation-level precision. Overall, Skylight succeeds by committing fully to its core idea: thoughtful, turn-based space combat built around prediction and planning. It doesn’t chase spectacle or complexity for its own sake, instead delivering a measured and rewarding strategic experience that respects the player’s intelligence. For fans of tactical games who enjoy slow-burn decision-making, fleet composition puzzles, and the satisfaction of watching a well-laid plan unfold, Skylight offers a distinctive and engaging take on space warfare that stands comfortably on its own. Skylight is a wonderful challenging game that is easy to pickup but then start to make one think, strategise. Here I play some of the tutorial. https://youtu.be/lrCktzzeHA8
It's a fun turn based strategy with cool battle animations. Lots of missions to play through several campaigns and choose carefully from a variety of ships to counter the enemy fleet. You can play it with VR or without. Check out my gameplay https://youtu.be/CdKGgpyy2og
