The game has not been avaible since 2021. And here we are, 2025. Still not available though. Skylar & Plux: Adventure On Clover Island is a simple, short, yet enjoyable platformer game. You play Skylar, a cat with a bionic arm. Together with Plux, your flying sidekick who's only power is to snark at the bad guy. The game has 5 zones, 3 enemies types and 3 abilties you unlock along the way. And to be honest, its simplicity is nice. Most games nowadays have so many options I forget half of them while having to spend 60 hours to beat it. This cartoony, short game filled with snarky humour is just perfect for those time you just want to sit back and play something light. It's a shame Grip Digital took down all their old games. Skylar & Plux is really a fun game.
Feels pointless to even leave a nice review because this is delisted now, but I'll bite anyway because I like saying nice things about smaller games made my smaller dev teams. I don't even remember when or why I bought this, I probably saw that you play as an anthro robo-cat and was sold on that alone. This is an alright 3D platformer inspired by PS2 era games like Ratchet & Clank. It doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but what it does is execute the formula in a satisfactory way. It's a pretty kiddy game, with a simple plot and cartoony character archetypes, but if you grew up with this type of game you can just vibe with a low stakes adventure that will take you 4 hours at most to beat. Some people might read all of what I just wrote as a negative, but for me, I honestly miss these lower stakes, middle of the road games. In a world where every game is trying to consume 100% of your free time (and money) and being labeled either as "abysmally bad" or "godly masterpiece" with no room for anything inbetween, it's comforting to just play something that calls back to a time where gaming as a hobby was simpler.
Skylar & Plux: Adventure On Clover Island is an jump and run platformer that feels like the 2000s era: Pros: + graphics and art style is great + level design is fun but on the more easy side + 1 hud world and 3 levels + good soundtracks + worlds are interesting + story is ok + fun gadgets/abilties to use thought the adventure: jetpack, slow time and magnet Cons: - a little to short 2-3 hours if you dont go for 100% (with it not much better 4-6) - no different enemies on the levels (not much different enemy types) - the first map on the beach have a bad shadow draw distance, also the last map in the first big place near the big red door on the ground also have bad shaow draw distance The game have barely any bad thing only that it need a little more content. If you are a fan of the 2000s jump and run platformers, go ahead an get it its worth it. Its a shame that it dont get a Sequel.
Rating: ★★★ - Good Time Played: 2.1 hours Gameplay: • A very short 3D platforming game similar to 'Ratchet & Clank' or 'Jak and Daxter', with a mix of combat, exploration, and light puzzle-solving. • Smooth controls for platforming, and a nice variety of abilities to use for puzzles and combat as you progress. • Gadgets like the jet-pack, time stone and magnetic glove make traversal more engaging. • Level design is straightforward but encourages exploration to find collectables and upgrades. Story\Dialogue: • A simple story about saving the island from a robotic AI overlord. • Dialogue is cringe and under-baked, with attempted humorous exchanges between Skylar and Plux. • I can't see a reason why Plux is a companion as he doesn't help or guide in any way. • The story takes a backseat to the gameplay but that's a good thing as the core gameplay is what makes it worth playing the game. Graphics\Music: • Vibrant and colourful art style, with environments that feel lively and appealing. • The Loa that you rescue in the game feels like a placeholder, not an actual species. • Some textures and animations are a bit rough, but the overall presentation is polished. • Location Title Card font feels lazily tacked on. • Cutscenes are powerpoint presentations, which is disappointing. • The soundtrack complements the playful tone of the game but doesn't match in certain levels and sometimes just stops working altogether. Before you Play: • Don’t expect deep mechanics or a lengthy experience; it’s a short game that can be played in a single sitting. • The difficulty is low, making it accessible for younger players or newcomers to the genre. • Feel free to skip the cutscenes\dialogue and focus on the gameplay as that is the core experience to enjoy.
I played this game for Pay or Play 4th Cycle of 2024 and it was picked for me by Fynx. Are you ready to adventure like it’s 2001? Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island is a passionate revival of the legendary 3D platformer genre with classic gameplay, playful gadgets, and a lighthearted story set in a gorgeous, colorful world reminiscent of our childhood adventures. It's a very nice and lovely little 3D platforming game that is reminiscent of Jak and Dexter. It's quite simple, but has a few different unique mechanics that were quite fun to master. There was some collectibles to gather, which were not too difficult either. I'm quite sad that the game has been removed from sale on steam since its a very lovely game and I would love to recommend it to people. Im sure you can still get a key somewhere but its probably not worth it for huge amounts of money. Either way, its a lovely game and totally worth playing if you happen to get it or you already own it!
Jak and Daxter if it was a third of the length. Short and sweet and does not overstay its welcome. Too bad the publisher decided to delist the game for unknown reasons 3 years ago. It does everything to be as child friendly as possible which makes it cringe or adds to the comedy. Until Right Nice gets Grip to relinquish publisher rights, sail the high seas for this game.
Güzel, eğlenceli bir oyundu. Biraz Crash Bandicoot'a benziyor. Eğlenceli 3 saatlik bir oyun.
A quick and colorful romp, reminiscent of a Saturday morning cartoon. Light on pop culture references and just challenging enough to remind you of all the budget platformers of your youth.
An excellent 3D platformer! Sad that it was delisted by the publsher. I can totally see that was a well done labor of love.
