Nice game if you are into jumpscares and really creepy dudes who should be on some sort of register. I like the retro look of the graphics with the CRT filter. Only thing i didn't enjoy was the car handling but thats just me nitpicking.
It's a mix of Resident Evil/Survival Horror and 70s/80s horror with obvious inspirations from works of Lucio Fulci and Dario Argento. Really good horror elements and story themes. Some of the dialogue gets under your skin especially with the creeps. You really need to pay attention to the environment for puzzle info which I missed, that did take me out of the horror and got a bit frustrating. Easy recommend.
Randomizing and clearing my backlog 41/343 This game could've been great, but boy does it overstay its welcome..... After 3 hours I questioned why I was continuing just to get jump scared (or an attempted jump scare) every 30 minutes. Its just mediocre. The idea was there, almost survival horror, but going in between floors got tedious and annoying.

Great horror game. The saves are more checkpoints, there are no manual saves, so be aware of that. There are a few jump scares but also an uneasiness throughout the game, with some tense moments. Really recommend.
Normally the whole Indy Horror Stuff isn't for me. Most of the games are pretty similar, half assed efforts that use ready made assets, and copy the same story and cliches over and over again letting you do boring tasks, walking through forests or caves, or stay at home, cooking food or the obligatory night shift simulator that breaks up the monotoness with the occasional jumpscare out of nowhere because thats what horror is appearently nowadays. And while this is also a "nightshift simulator" I had a lot of fun with this one. Its fully voiced, has a cheesy but chilling 80s slasher atmosphere. But what makes this fun is that it actually feels like a game with tasks. I don't do laundry or cook meal for like 50 minutes before anything happens like in any of the other 5 million games on the marked or look at cameras or computer screens for hours only to get jumpscared to death by some entity that has a way to quiet sound cue. Skin Freak has an really old school and charming approach to game design that reminds me of old Adventure games from the 90s where you have to combine silly items to somehow solve a certain puzzle in order to progress. . Example. (spoiler) there is an elevator and there is a button missing on the elevator. So you can't go to that floor. So later on you find a button from like a jacket or something in a bin and a chewing gum somewhere else. So you combine them and stick it in the whole of the elevator. Does it make sense? Not really but as I mentioned it really reminds me of stuff like Phantasmogoria where you also have to somewhat do an trial and error attempt to use weird item combinations to get stuff done and come back later to try a different item. And while those games often had some wild combinations that often required you to not only think outsided the box but rather leave the storage room completely, the puzzles in here still make enough sense so you don't have to use an guide. Also the fact that this is made almost entirely by one person is actually quite impressive. Of course its an Indygame so there are some setbacks because of time and budget reasons. I think the biggest setback for most as I read in the Comments is actually the part I just applauded the game for. So I guess if you aren't familiar with gamedesign from stuff like the Indiana Jones Games from the early 90s then well... yeah.. skip this one. My biggest critisism are probably the characters. Almost everyone in the game acts like an absolute psychopath and the developer tries to lay red herings about who the killer is. Little tip from someone who has experience in storytelling. If everyone but ONE person acts like a psychopath its not hard to guess who the killer is. Next time try to make the people act more normal. Normal people can be creepy to. I don't need like Five people go like."uuuhhh yOU haVE smoOOOtTHH SkiNN!"

outstanding little weekend high game, bravo. fun, with just the perfect amount of puzzleness, i loved sir charles, a little thing every here and there to get a chuckle, it was perfect. driving was dog water though ahaha, but amazing, keep going with this devs
Surprisingly unsettling and extremely tense game. The retro graphics add some sort of surreal quality to the realistic textures. Jumpscares are mostly well-executed, although it felt like the story was not fleshed out enough to feel "full" or "complete," but slightly rushed or quick. That being said, the game is effective at creating an oppressive, helpless atmosphere, immersing you in the stress and fear of the main character. 6/10
