I want to love this game I really do. I've played all of Kings other games and this one is at the bottom of my lists. The issue I had was with the games pacing. It starts out as a taxi driving sim and I actually really liked the concept. Problem is it give you no direction after the first pickup. You're just expected to drive around in circles until you find the people to pick up and then drive around until you find the destination. This isnt too bad because if your paying attention you'll notice these landmarks while exploring. After that you switch characters to an office IT worker. and again the pacing is just so slow. Your character moves slow even after upgrades and it a lot of wondering around and puzzle solving until the package your waiting on gets delivered so you can start doing the main goal and even longer before the Skin Freak even shows up and you're in any real danger. I'm all for a slow burn but I just found myself getting really bord. The computers do have some fun mini games on them, The necromance point and click one was great and wouldn't mind seeing king expand on it into a full game but honestly this game just wasn't it for me. I still look forward to their future games but this one was a real letdown for me.
It was actually a pretty good game I wish there were a little more jumpscares but the ones it had still got me!! I definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a good indie horror style game
ass as ♥♥♥♥
Great horror game. The saves are more checkpoints, there are no manual saves, so be aware of that. There are a few jump scares but also an uneasiness throughout the game, with some tense moments. Really recommend.
Randomizing and clearing my backlog 41/343 This game could've been great, but boy does it overstay its welcome..... After 3 hours I questioned why I was continuing just to get jump scared (or an attempted jump scare) every 30 minutes. Its just mediocre. The idea was there, almost survival horror, but going in between floors got tedious and annoying.
Surprisingly unsettling and extremely tense game. The retro graphics add some sort of surreal quality to the realistic textures. Jumpscares are mostly well-executed, although it felt like the story was not fleshed out enough to feel "full" or "complete," but slightly rushed or quick. That being said, the game is effective at creating an oppressive, helpless atmosphere, immersing you in the stress and fear of the main character. 6/10
A fantastic throwback to 80s slashers/giallos that felt like I was playing a movie. Has an excellent escalation of tension that kept me terrified the entire playtime. So many dimly lit corridors and sharp corners where I awaited a potential demise. The gameplay is not what I was expecting, but I still found it very fun. I’ve never been a big fan of the “collect an item, find where it goes, get another item” style of game, but this one won me over. The only complaint I have is with one section near the end with a hyper-specific solution to a timed puzzle that killed my character several times (and rebooted me to a checkpoint 1-2 minutes back) before I slowly pieced together the solution. This, and the ending is a bit disappointing, especially given the build-up. All-in-all, I would heavily recommend this. I bought this along with the Torture Star bundle, and am very excited to play the rest of those games. I already feel like going back through this one and getting the two achievements I missed.
