This is a kinda rough decision. The game is not completely bad, still I currently wouldn't recommend it unless you have played all Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Games over and over and are looking for new parks with new objectives. In case you haven't, buy any THPS game and you will get more content, which is also better polished. pros: + nice soundtrack (for my taste in music) + overall fun THPS-like feeling + secret areas in all parks neutral: * all parks are heavily THPS-inspired, when it comes to visuals. you got your warehouse/hangar, alcatraz, ventura/bull ring skate hall, waterpark, mall and so on. nothing unique. * no video after completing the game. i mean... sterre has a youtube channel. probably would have been easy to put a 60 second clip of her skating and showing tricks after 100%-ing the game. not really needed, but could have been a nice addition/reward. cons: - lots of quality of life features missing, like better adjustable camera, switching key binds for keyboard, easy way to change levels and some more - you basically need the unreal engine console to set fov and speed to decent values. without the fov is too small and the game's too fast. - overall janky controls and physics. combos suddenly end mid manual, you tend to clip or bounce on every other corner, sometimes even on thin air. - not that much content. seven parks is nice, but it took me about 3 hours to unlock everything ingame and so far there is basically no replay value. - steam achievements (currently) are partly broken and not really fun to get anyway. 15 minutes of manualing f. e. is just tedious. - it's super easy to endlessly manual + flip combo and cheese high score goals this way - most parks look very grey with only a few spots of color here and there, which is realistic, but i would have liked levels to be more colorful in an arcade skate game.

It's definitely not as fluid as the THPS games and at times it can be a little jank. But for £10, you can't knock it. I am enjoying my time with the game.
- Low FOV: Far Camera still too close - 60 FPS locked, I didn't find any workaround - Game is too fast. Devs should add an option to set game speed or reduce it a bit - Time to revert for combos is insane. It should be more flexible to combo revert with manuals or flips I'll edit this review if dev fix these things. I hope to see Wallrides and Lip tricks after updates, would be a cool feature
I'm really enjoying this. It's a Tony Hawk style, but more grounded. Yes, the objectives are similar but I'd say that's the only comparison. There is no special meter, so no over the top tricks. Some of the locations are very well done for skateboarding areas. "Skyscraper" is probably the most out there when it comes to travelling around the map, but you can keep it realistic. To the devs, thank you for the statistic tracking, air, grind, manual distance, number of flip tricks done etc. It's something I need in every skateboarding game and keeps me playing.
Skatesterre is a skateboarding game where you can show off your trick-performing skills. You play as a female character and can unlock a variety of outfits to customize her look. The game features career, single-player, and free-roam modes, and it looks fantastic, developer, please provide a Portuguese translation. Everyone, please buy the game.
Holy pile of trash. As a THPS enjoyer, this is just GARBAGE. The fact that you have to hold Ollie just to start cruising is absolutely diabolic. It feels awful and is incredibly annoying. The controls are some of the worst I've ever used, and you can't even properly remap them. There are some fun exploits, though. Starting a manual and spamming Ollie while holding S gives you a ridiculous multiplier, and you can do similar nonsense with 50-50 grinds. Honestly, messing around with those is probably the most fun I've had. But even the basic grind controls are janky as hell. Holding the grind key doesn't work properly—you have to press grind at the exact moment you jump into the rail. If you're coming from THPS expecting tight, responsive controls, stay away.
From all angles this should've been an easy win for me. Price is right, amount of content is right, theming is right, but the fundamentals just aren't there. I'd rather have less levels and assets I didn't bounce on 20% of every grind. Objects that haven't had their collision dummied out, minifences that haven't had their geometry set properly so when you grind them and jump you can accidentally "snap" immediately back down. No way to switch grinds, if there's a level out button I missed it. Starting a manual is like rolling a die on if its balance is in a completely immediate bail state. Clothing to pick and unlock but no way to color it. Board customization is there, that neon pink and neon red shader? That's perfect THPSU. But playing it is like being condemned to a drunken mis-input by proxy of weird geometry and sloppy code mine. I really wanted to like this, I'm aware I'm not even a fantastic, hell, good, TH player but man why bother? Yknow PSX thps1 is weighty and a bit floaty but at least when you grind you know what that is going to do. At least when you kickflip you don't have to gamble on if some weird wizard is going to ordain that it didn't count. Combos don't prevent the career timer from ending...except when the career timer bugs out until you bail? Its a mess. I'd rather go make my clown girl in Underground or 4 again. I'm shocked it wasn't launched early access. I wouldn't sell physics like this. I can accept a lot.
Has everything you need in an old school skater game, scratches that itch. I enjoyed myself 9/10
Playing Tony Hawk Underground 2 before school in 2004 was so comfy... The store page wasnt kidding when it said "early 2000's" gameplay. It doesnt bog itself down by trying to include modern gaming conventions like voice acting or story (which I expect will put off MANY younger people), instead you press one button and you're straight into a nostalgic map with a list of goals and a trick list in the menu. Very small download, but so far I've encountered quite a few issues with the geometry while playing. The title athlete is also very beautiful, but sadly the game doesn't anything to actually show off her personality or career. My BIGGEST complaint though is that you can't push off or traverse smoothly by just pressing W and have to hold down ollie in order to start moving. Still recommended though cuz I had fun!
