I really enjoyed the game, it's very unusual game as the combination of narrative and puzzle is something I have never seen before in such a way. I enjoyed the different stages and when I started playing, I thought to myself "will all of the game be like this?". But I quickly found out the puzzles changed with the narrative and I really enjoyed that! So a quick list of pros and cons: PRO: - Interesting and diverse puzzles, often suprised me - Satisfying to solve the puzzles - Really nice mood and fitting graphics - Good narrator voice CON: - I did not like the screen format very much, I felt the port from mobile could have used some more love - Only english language - Controls sometimes could use some explanation Even tough I found those points negative, I overall recommend the game, especially for the price! I definitely got my entertainment and brain-tickling for the price of a small coffee 🤘

The ending of this game is gonna stick with me for a very long time, it really took me by surprise and made me think. Meaningful ending with a message is the last thing I'd expect in a puzzle game, but Sixth Extinction delievers just that. The game has amazing atmosphere, the graphics are stylish and beatiful. The ambient sounds get under your skin and make you feel tension and the narration is really well done as well. The puzzles are short, but sweet, there were times when I had to stop and think, especially in the later levels. The only thing some people will mind, is the mobile resolution. This game was clearly built for mobiles first. Personally, I didn't mind, since the game and its UI fit. I didn't run into a situation, where I was thinking to myself, if only the resolution was bigger, I could see things better. However, it is something worth bringing up. I enjoyed my experience with Sixth Extinction and I can easily recommend it, if you don't mind that it's not made with PCs in mind.
A short puzzle game with a great message — and one that actually cares about its message. The art is beautiful, and the puzzles are not too difficult (there's a skip button for every level anyway if you're stuck). The music and the narrator's voice set the mood really well. I received it for free, but it'd definitely be worth the $2. It was an enjoyable 1-hour experience overall. Nitpicks for the developers:

The fade out transition when entering and exiting menus or levels takes a bit too long for my liking.
There's this some sort of wing flapping sound in level 6 and another level I think. While I'm sure it was for immersion purposes, it was really annoying that I had to mute the game till I finished the level.
edit: flipped it to a non-recommendation due to the quality of the mobile port. sixth extinction is a 1-hour narrative puzzler. most of the 15 levels (unlocked one by one, no on-screen level numbers) play like a draw a single line game, with tiles disappearing after a single step, other tiles (or a combination of them) opening up roadblocks, etc. my least favorite mechanic was moving in the dark based on clues on the top of the screen. it promises no hand-holding, and sure enough, I got stumped on level 9 until I realized those tiles are clickable and nothing can be done to them with the keyboard, which I otherwise used instead of clicking the arrows on the bottom. those few levels offered very different puzzles, and even though there's not much monotony to mix up in such a short game, I didn't mind them. besides the arrows, clicked or pressed, there's level reset ('r' also works), but no undo. it's not really necessary though, especially with reset putting you back to the last unmarked checkpoint, if there are any, and after a few seconds of inactivity a skip option comes up. I found this a bit too fast, whereas once you step on the exit tile, it takes too long for the level to end. I won't spoil the story, even if it's not gonna be a huge surprise, the title and the screenshots speak for themselves. it's voiced but narration doesn't match the displayed text (there's usually more talking than reading), which I always find annoying, and after an alt+tab the guy won't continue his speech. the rest of the audio is a mixed bag, and despite separate settings for narration, the environment, sound effects and the end-of-level piano, volumes in general are unbalanced. the hand-drawn graphics are not great but good enough for a simple game like this, except the game runs in portrait mode, so either in a small window or with most of the screen occupied by black bars. nothing can be done about it now, as I was told, but I shouldn't have had to point it out, proper widescreen support should be the absolute minimum when porting mobile stuff to pc, it looks lazy and unappealing on a big screen otherwise. all in all, more amateurish an attempt than I would've liked, especially since it took 2.5 years to make (not full time, obviously). since porting was done poorly, it's not something to recommend even to fans of the environment, but it's nothing unmissable anyway.
Just finished the game and... wow. I'm speechless. The end is amazing! But if the end is amazing, it is also because the game is really well done. Very nice art, well-balanced puzzles, nice sounds, and a very special atmosphere. Really interesting idea to combine puzzles with a story - and what a story... I really got fascinated and wanted to finish it... and then, the end! The portrait layout (phone-like) is okay but feels a bit cramped. And because the drawings are so nice, they should take the full screen! It would also help for the immersion. But this is only my taste. I had a lot of fun and I went deep into an atmospheric journey... that was a very nice experience! Thank you Polte Games for that. I definitely recommend it.
