Having played all of these games over the years in their original release forms I can confidently say this is a perfect port and well worth the asking price. Year Walk, Device 6, Beat Sneak Bandit on PC alone are worth the asking price but throw in 4 other fun games and a bunch of other goodies for fans of Simogo's work like myself, packaged in a robust and engaging yet aesthetically pleasing wrapper and you have a perfect recipe. Make no mistake, these might all be "phone games" but almost every title is punching so far above its weight and ahead of its time that it guaranteed to astound. Special mention goes to Year Walk, my favorite game of all time. Thank you guys for keeping the original version of Year Walk in this collection instead of using the PC re-release version. I love both versions for different reasons but seeing the game and the companion remaining separate like they were when I first played the game in 2014 makes me happy. Preserving and having access to both versions makes me even happier. Simogo is a dev team that deserves every single penny they are given. Their dedication to new and interesting gameplay, storytelling, and extremely stylish art direction is unmatched by any other team. Simon, Gordon and the rest (especially Daniel) your games mean the world to me and I know many others. I hope you never lose that spark of ambition or drive to create because no one is making the high level of quality you all produce.
I bought this game because Simogo is one of my favorite developers of all time. They’ve been making games for 15 years and haven’t made a bad one yet. I don’t just love their games; I respect them from an artistic perspective too. There are a couple of other indie studios like that, SuperGiant, Drinkbox. Anything they put out I’m going to buy. In this case, this was an obligatory purchase for support. Because I own all these games on iOS. I’d say the asking price is worth it for Device 6 alone, one of my favorite games of all time. It’s a unique experience, that I don’t want to spoil. But I think everyone should give it a try, even if that kind of game isn’t your type. Beat Sneak Bandit a one button stealth rhythm game is also a standout and is probably the most ‘traditional video game’ of the bunch, which is funny considering it’s a genre-hybrid with one button mobile origins. But it probably has the most natural appeal to the gamer, with its fun gameplay, levels, and collectibles. It's also fantastic. Otherwise, you’ve got some adventure games with varying tones. You’ve got some calm ‘endless runner’ action. You’ve got quite possibly the simplest puzzle game of all time, but also deceptively tricky and addictive. Individually there are some things that the games might not have that much appeal on their own. I mean I like them both, but Kosmo Spin and Bumpy Road are pretty simple games, that might not hold your attention too long. But that’s the beauty of this collection, you’ve got those more straightforward mobile games, along side the more substantial and experimental games. Like I said, from an artistic point of view, I think Simogo’s catalog is something that everyone should experience, but they are also all good games and at this price, you can’t beat it.
Finally, DEVICE 6 on PC! That alone is worth it, but this is still an amazing collection of games. Go grab it!
the two cursor control scheme is so out of left field for me but it just Works having to rotate the tablet view is also really cute and silly i only got to play bumpy road as a wee lil piece of ♥♥♥♥ (kid) and playing some of what i missed just a little bit (beat sneak bandit very cute i love it) i play stuff on my steam deck (and my main computer setup is macOS so can't on it without wine/crossover) and the joystick controls are definitely a lil wonky (frankly though it's pretty much the ONLY way to do it on a traditional control scheme) but i really really enjoy simogo's output it's also a bit silly seeing year walk in the collection when it already has a version on steam but i can see its inclusion mainly for the companion inclusion but also for some more of the mobile feel and it just actually falling in the timeframe of 2010 - 2015 prototypes and the other bonus stuff too is also very very neat and very cool yes yes
Beat Sneak Bandit alone is worth the price of admission, it's a pint-sized masterpiece
Bought this on recommendation from Abnormal Mapping. Highly recommend for folks who miss the days when the iOS app store was new and full of weird little games you could find, play for 2 hours and then be done. The redone controls are excellent. Hope to see this done for other classic mobile games.
I will always have a special place in my heart for Kosmo Spin, Bumpy Road & Year Walk. I haven't had an Apple device for a very very long time, so I had no way of playing them...until now. Frankly, I am a simple creature and when I see Simogo has put out a new game I will buy it (twice in this case, gotta have the Switch 2 version too, naturally) I am very pleased to see these versions work so well not only on Steam, but on the Switch 2, with a plethora of orientations and control options you'll find something that feels natural, and in my case with Bumpy Road at least I think I prefer the mouse cursor over the touch inputs, which justifies both purchases in my opinion haha. Great stuff as usual! I look forward to whatever future projects you have lined up... (Simogo Kart maybe?!... I can dream...)
its 7 games (and some bonus material) for 15 dollars! i can guarantee you will like at least one of them. SPL-T is one i keep coming back to, but DEVICE 6 is my actual favorite so far... i am a big fan of unconventional, mixed-media storytelling such as that seen in DEVICE 6. if you think it looks interesting from the screenshots shown on the store page, you will be delighted
Device 6 is an incredible game. The puzzles, atmosphere and writing are top notch. I bought this just to replay it. Highly recommend you get it on IOS if you have an iphone / ipad but very glad its being preserved and now playable on other platforms. Keen to check out the others included in this collection as I've never played those :)
