In terms of horror, this game is kind of lacking, but OH MY GOD does it deliver in every single other aspect. This game is beautiful in its presentation. From the cutscenes, the atmosphere, and the unique art style: it's just perfect. Furthermore, the story is DEEP. It's profound and thought provoking. SIGNALIS is a must play for anyone who enjoys story games.
Genuinely such a beautiful game. The story is so bizarre and interesting that it makes me want to play it again and again to understand it more. The music/soundtrack is amazing and is in multiple of my personal playlists. The gameplay isn't too complicated but isn't easy sometimes. The puzzles (as well as the story) forces you to rack your brain around to figure out what to do and what is going on. Overall an amazing game and I wish I could play it again for the first time.

I got this game thinking it would just be another survival horror game like any other. I am gonna be as spoiler free as I can in this review From the soundtrack, to the atmosphere , worldbuilding, gameplay and story, SIGNALIS is truly one of the top 5 games I have ever played. Its also one of the few games in which I cried at the ending. If you wanna get into it, I HIGHLY suggest you should go through your first playthrough completely blind. The less you know about this game the more it will hit. I am gonna split this review into 4 parts : Story, Worldbuilding, Gameplay and Endings.
Story
Since I want to make this review as spoiler free as possible, i will only say my opinion on how it was handled, made and my thoughts on it. I will also try to make this review not too long, just a few things about each part of the game. The story in SIGNALIS doesn't just unravel in front of your eyes, you have to discover it. The game takes quotes from books such as The King in Yellow, The Festival by H.P Lovecraft and An Inhabitant of Carcosa. The cutscenes in-game are also to be noted. While almost no dialogue is spoken, you find out part by part what the story is to be. I would like to mention by now that from this story, each person can have an unique perspective on it. Its one of the things I personally like about SIGNALIS.
Worldbuilding
The worldbuilding in SIGNALIS is another thing I love about this game in particular. The atmosphere and the way the maps are made really sets the mood in place. It truly encaptures the feeling this game is going for. I will admit though, I did get lost in some parts. LOL.
Gameplay
While of course, this gameplay and mechanics aren't all new in particular, I really think it fits the game . in my opinion, what was interesting about the mechanics was the ability to combine certain items to progress to the next part.
Endings
From my perspective, there's no such thing as a bad ending in SIGNALIS. Whether you got the "LEAVE", "MEMORY" or the "PROMISE" ending, in the end, it shows how you chose to act in all the situations the game put you in and how it affected the final choice of Elster. After you complete the game, if u start a NG+, you can actually get a secret ending called "Artifact".
I wear no mask, and I hate everything.
