A very captivating story - played through it several times, enjoying every single playthrough. Although, i must say it feels... somewhat short for a novel? By the end i was still craving for more - although, perhaps, it is more of a compliment to the writers rather than an actual complaint.
A pretty good mid-length story, the pace is great and there are no rush or procrastination The plot is solid enough to me Stats checks are generous, was able to pass most checks and acquire desired results. Most characters are just tools and not interesting at all. Romance doesn't make any sense to me and seems rushed. Celestino, for example, is a completely unnecessary character. If you remove him/her, plot stays the same. I don't really understand why the author put this dude in the game as a RO. If you don't really focus on romance, definitely play this game because the game is very solid on the other aspects
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel
Generally an enjoyable and challenging game. I follow the author, Jed Hern on youtube and I value his instructions. One fatal flaw - the 'Gary-Sue' type character - got no Yearning for that one - a turd that won't wipe off.
The Dark Souls of books.
Very enjoyable King simulator with multiple romances, much Medieval Romance and bloodshed. I love these games. Simple but much more complex than the ones I read as a kid. As everyone says about these games- your imagination is the greatest graphics processor in the world. There's no pictures but you leave with some great cinematic stories in your head. I like the pace, the build up and Treboulain begins to feel like a living city. Lots of these choose your own adventure novels are like speed playing The Witcher series or GTA or Baldur's gate. I grew up when climbing a tree was cool, though. I still do.
Great game, my only issue is the fact that
the writing doesn't make clear enough that rescuing the prisoners locks you out of doing the Wyrm storyline, but I guess you can just replay it. As well, even if you capture your sexy insane tyrant ex-lover (in my case), it gives no gratification vs if you killed him, like do I get to question him? Make him grovel? Have a final "you were my ex-lover" closure moment? Kind of a missed opportunity.
Other than that, very good game.
This is a game that inspired me to consider my actions very, very carefully, yet didn’t make me feel regretful when things didn’t go my way. It told a beautiful, well-written engaging story, and for a night I truly felt like Treboulain’s Captain. ... the game lets you choose your own title, you see, and “King Curry” felt too stuffy.
Curse my scheming cousin who who vies for my throne, who rubs his grubby hands when I have a misstep, who scowls when the masses adore me.
