Always an amazing game. have played it for over twenty years, great stories for all factions and world building lore. nice fast game play make it better in my opinion than the typical Civ games with slower animations.

I'm extremely well-dosed in nostalgia here, but this is still a great game even after all these years.

I love the heck out of this RTS, it's incredible for its time and is definitely a 9/10 fun-wise - however it's completely unplayable on Windows 11 in the Steam library - any game that NEEDS you to mod it for it to function on a baseline level does not deserve your money; you have to either run it on Windows 10, download two seperate GOG versions to get both the base game and DLC, or download the Thinker Mod that completely salvages the unplayability from Windows 11 and Firaxis' abandonment of the game (which is the best option because they also updated the sound design and 800x600 display limitation. However I this also means I CAN'T LOG OR NOTE MY PLAYED HOURS! Only buy this on Steam if you're really bothered to do all that AND if it's on special. Luckily I got the classic for peanuts, but it should be remastered by Firaxis, if ever. Technical rubbish aside, it's a cult-classic RTS and a nice way to pass the time if you're into 90's-era sci-fi cheese and strategy games.
