About
Shrimp Escape is an action-packed 2D arcade shooter where you play as a defiant shrimp blasting and slicing your way out of a hostile ocean. After a daring escape from a fishing vessel, you must weaponize the sea: stun predators with a high-velocity pistol shrimp gun, chop them into food with a molted mantis claw, and cash in their scales to survive the deep. Hand-drawn with striking comic-book styling, it’s a reflex-driven battle to escape the food chain!
Progress through a series of handcrafted, linear underwater levels detailing the shrimp’s dangerous journey back to freedom.
Stunning Visual Narrative: Watch the story unfold through gorgeous, stylized comic book panels.
Meet the Locals: Encounter unique undersea NPCs, like trapped crabs needing rescue or a rogue mantis shrimp who gifts you a razor-sharp spear claw.
Epic Boss Battles: Adapt your skills to take down massive ocean predators, including a terrifying Angler Fish deep in the abyss.
Permanent Progression: Collect fish scales across your journey to unlock powerful upgrades that will help you from level to level.
Test your absolute limits in a chaotic, closed-arena gauntlet against escalating waves of marine predators.
The Ultimate Loop: Shoot to stun, slice to cook! Slicing enemy fish turns them into cooked food items that fall to the ocean floor.
Meet Your Pit Crew: Find Enrique the Crab scuttling along the bottom to eat your cooked food and blow powerful prize bubbles (granting shields, speed boosts, and extra lives).
Robert’s Mid-Run Shop: Trade collected fish scales to Robert the Hermit Crab for rapid-fire weapon upgrades and temporary boosts that will help you in this mode.
Rule the Leaderboards: Fight for survival, build massive point multipliers, and claim your spot on the global Steam Leaderboard.
The Fish Gallery Bestiary: Track your oceanic conquests! Log every unique fish species you encounter and view your total scale collection.
Fast, Skill-Based Combat: Master a high-speed movement system to dash, weave, and avoid hazardous underwater currents and tight spaces.
Immersive Controller Support: Fully optimized for gamepads (or Keyboard & Mouse) with tailored haptic rumble that makes every blast and claw strike feel incredibly punchy.
Pure Arcade Spirit: Hand-drawn by a solo developer, Shrimp Escape is built to be highly challenging, endlessly replayable, and easy to pick up but deeply rewarding to master.
Whether you’re pushing forward through Story Mode or testing your limits for a global high score, Shrimp Escape is about staying alive, learning fast, and escaping the ocean one close call at a time.

Fun shrimp adventure! Intuitive and easy to get sucked into. You can tell a lot of love went into it and I love the game over illustration. (At the moment there appears to be a glitch on the jellyfish level. The menu won't register inputs and won't save your progress :( - hopefully this can be fixed!) Would have loved a gallery of all the fish illustrations with what species they are - I recognized several but it would be nice to see without fighting for my life as a shrimp.
First of all I really didn't know what I was getting into with this game but I'm really glad I did. The story mode is unique and TOUGH. Way more than I was expecting first looking at the game but it's a ton of fun and feels amazing to finally make it through a level. Dare I say darksouls of the Sea? Maybe you're more in touch with you're inner shrimp and you'll breeze through but I doubt it! Still working my way through the story but after being stuck on a boss for 3 hours and finally making it past them I knew I needed to stop in and say a few words. The art style is fantastic. There's just something about being in the deep black of the ocean not sure what direction danger will come from next that keeps you on your toes. Definitely worth giving it a try and maybe try to take over the leaderboard, that'll be my next stop after the story.
Fun and challenging game from indie game creator! All artwork and animation is hand-drawn! Looking forward to more from him!
I expected a cute time-killer and came away genuinely impressed. Playing as a shrimp surviving the open ocean is such a charming premise, and the game nails it. It's easy to pick up, satisfyingly tricky, and full of "just one more try" energy. What really sets it apart is the craftsmanship. You can feel this was made by a person who cares about every frame. The hand-drawn art is gorgeous and the sea creatures burst with character. Huge respect to the developer, already excited for whatever comes next!
