Reviews
Note: I will be updating this review pretty frequently as I progress through the game and learn more about it Highly recommended to those that want to learn some basics in a format that is fresh from flash-cards and other language apps, £4 for 50 useful Chinese characters, both traditional and simplified, is a steal I was suggested this game from a sponsored post on Facebook, and instantly knew this would be a great idea to teach people Chinese. You shouldn't go into this game expecting riveting gameplay, but if you go in with education on top, then you will enjoy this. It's a nice way to pick up some new, basic vocabulary with 450 more of the most common Chinese symbols planned for the future, on top of the current 50 I've only played the first exercise as of right now, but I believe it was enough for me to know I will be learning some new vocabulary very easily with this format. You pretty much have to steer a ship using the Chinese symbols for left, right, up, down, forward and backward. At the end of the exercise, you get access to the symbols separately, along with vocal playbacks and the pinyin, so you can take some notes and practice easily in your own time. The second exercise seems to be about food, and I can already see a few characters I haven't yet learned, so I'm pretty excited to tackle those I am hoping to see some more hands-on and traditional styles of gameplay for the future of this series, such as moving around with WASD in the first person perspective to solve puzzles using Chinese. Achievements would be an excellent way to track progress, whether it's in-game or through Steam to reward you for completing exercises
I found this game while looking for Chinese learning games and thought I'd give it a try. This concept for a language learning game is very engaging, and I believe it would be an effective tool for language learning if it were more complete. This is the only episode, which introduces very limited, beginner level vocabulary. I hope the devs still have something planned for this game in the future. I would love to see more!
The language learning is very intuitive and by the end of it you will have a few lines of text to read which feels exhilarating after focusing on learning one word on its own at a time. One of the best language learning games I've played so far because it doesn't translate anything, you are learning the language on its own terms through comprehensible input!
Really creative game for learning. Kinda feels a bit like Myst, very laid back and relaxing but also a productive way to spend some time learnign some new characters. I've been learning Chinese for a few months now and this game reflects that skill level, it is for beginners for sure. I do wish the puzzles were a bit more complicated and challenging but that might make it more stressful so it's an interesting trade off. Overall the game and level design feels creative and unique. Worth the price for sure!
A fun game and really helpful for learning traditional chinese characters. If you are looking at more structured writing and reading learning it isn't quite designed for thatbut if you are working on understanding the basics of directions, food and other simple points it is a freat one.
I like it. Great game
Best game for learn chineze but where is episode 2 ? :'(
A very nice little learning game. I find the minimalist and at times surreal graphics style very charming. Sound is quite tasteful as well. That all complements nicely the process of character and spelling memorization. Please make more episodes!!! There is a lot of potential to this idea.
Great concept for learning/expanding Chinese vocabulary. Would like to see more episodes in the future.
