About
Enter the wilderness and protect your calf and your herd from lurking predators and the looming threat of starvation. Make your way through the open landscapes as a majestic elephant.
With so many mouths to feed, your journey will be a hard one. Use ancient knowledge to navigate through the world and discover new terrain and untrodden pathways, gaining wisdom as you do so.
Be aware that you will need to make hard choices along the way. In the wild, all living creatures are put to the test and as an elephant, you’re not a predator but prey. Be alert and gather your herd during times of danger. Your herd is your family, shelter is your only hope, and survival your only goal.
Shelter 3 is a game where wisdom, empathy and leadership play an important role in your survival. Like its forebears, Shelter 3 invites you to inhabit the spirit of an animal. But where Shelter 2 centred on a lone lynx family, Shelter 3 lets you explore a different kind of animal existence as an elephant, where community is as important as family, and unity is key.
Landscapes and fauna are rendered in mesmerising patterns and scored with an enchanting soundtrack by Retro Family, conjuring a magical world to lose yourself in.
This new Shelter incarnation migrates to new territory and offers a new, magical experience that you won’t forget.

My thoughts on shelter 3 and why i don't recommend it don't come down to fundamental gameplay problems or just overall bugs....it comes down to the style of game and lack of replayability, the linear story and game world is a significant downgrade from shelter 2 which was open world albeit not seamless open world. Shelter 3 is a linear story (Which mind you in itself isn't bad however i'll explain why it doesn't work for this game), so everything is predetermined, You cannot name your herd members or yourself so you lack any attachment to your herd members if any die during gameplay, And the game ends when you reach the last landmark and you have to start an entirely new game again to play it. (There isn't even an achievement you can get if all of your herd members and calves survive the journey like in shelter 2) Shelter 2 allowed you to name your cubs and this simple feature added a WHOLE lot more investment to see your cubs reach adult hood, and given the family tree system you could choose one of the surviving cubs to play as which added replayability given you could find new coat patterns, and after you had raised your cubs to adulthood and with them leaving in the fall you could still explore the world season after season as long as you didn't return to the den. Shelter 3 lacks the family tree system and this ability to explore the world like shelter 2 which severely hurt it's overall gameplay imo, Shelter 3 also had branching paths to encourage a second playthrough however it only came down to two options so at most you'd only ever play the game twice instead of multiple times like the previous game, It even lacks collectibles like in shelter 2 which allowed you to unlock new patterns for your elephant or to even motivate you to explore the world outside of getting from point A to point B. Overall if you want an open world like shelter 2 which allowed you to explore the world you will be very disapointed with this game.
I would only recommend Shelter 3 if you are determined to finish the series, I found several game breaking bugs and personally think the game to not be as fun as the first two. However, I did like the story. I felt it captured what it means to be an elephant family BUT (this is a big but) it took me restarting 20 minutes into my first play through to actually understand what was happening in the story. The graphics were beautiful as always. Positives: *Beautiful *Sad, but meaningful story Negatives: *Bugs, lots of bugs
For the price the content and playtime is not worth it in my opinion. i got it for 80% less and thats okay, The gameplay is interesting and i had fun, i waited with buying because it apperantly was very bugged on release. There is no combat you have to call the herd for protection which is interesting, it does not make use of this mechanic that much. i enjoyed most the food management and to have to look out for the herd. All in all its a good game for 4$
I can't leave a bad review for Might & Delight, they're amazing. Another beautifully artistic game, however I will admit that this is my least favorite of the Shelter trilogy. Took me about an hour and a half to beat the game but mainly because you're a super slow elephant. I kinda thought the story line was a little weak and the nurturing aspect compared to the past two games was lacking a bit, but oh well, still a gorgeous game. Sad to see mixed reviews for this game, but the achievements were fun, just wish they had trading cards. Buy on sale!
Okay so I have been a player of all the shelter games for years, and they never fail to make me sob. You don't find a lot of games now days that just allow you to think and observe the beauty of the game, and shelter three does just that. I personally love that aspect of the game, but I can see how that's not everyone one's cup of tea. I played the entire game in one sitting and as the credits rolled had to just take a moment to process and collect myself emotionally as I typically do after these games. But yea over all I do highly recommend it, 10/10 :)
I loved beginning it, but even after three attempts I was not able to make it to the end with any of the babies QwQ .. and the ending ??? GUYS. I feel lied to by the white starry grandma elephant... SO SAD. There were a couple of bugs with the adult herd members animations but otherwise 7/10
Third entry is about traversing land and terrain
This series can be so sad :( ..in a good way i guess, but damn...
i love all shelter games equally and always look for deeper meaning within the games, if you dont then this game isnt for you. Yeah its a walking simulator but it makes you think deeper. i enjoyed this Sad to see reviews at mixed aswell since i think this game is pretty emotional
