About

Shards of Order is a dark fantasy RPG that throws out the rulebook for deckbuilding & card-based combat. There are no turns and no mana points. Every enemy acts on a visible countdown, and every card you play winds those counters down, shifting the whole flow of the fight. Time is your most valuable resource. Misjudge, and your team is sure to crumble.
Master the art of shared deckbuilding; there are three heroes, but only one set of cards. Every card you add affects the drawing odds. Will you build around one main hero and stack the deck in their favor, or spread the strength across the whole party and keep everyone in the fight?
Reality is coming apart. The ancient Laws that once held life, death, and time in place have been stolen or shattered. What’s left is a world where identity fractures and the dead refuse to stay buried. A handful of survivors set out to put it back together, one broken Law at a time. You’re their leader, and restoring Order is up to you – If you find it worth saving.
Play as three distinct characters, each with multiple playstyles, their own skill trees, and a personal arc. This is a full RPG underneath the cards: level up, customize equipment, make dialogue choices, and pass skill checks. Weapons and armor aren't just stat sticks. They define each hero's playstyle and can even inject unique cards straight into your shared deck, so every gear decision is also a deckbuilding decision. Layer the right gear across all three and your party starts working like one organism.
The time counter system is the heart of combat in Shards of Order. Each enemy shows exactly when it will act next, and each card you play pushes those moments closer or further away. You're not reacting turn by turn, but rather managing a clock for your entire party at once. One mistimed card can unravel the whole fight, so every move is a calculation. Three unique regions and a roster of handcrafted boss fights will push your time mastery to the limit.
As you scavenge a dying world, you recover the lost Laws that once governed it. But restoration comes at a cost. Each Law you bring back draws the eye of the all-seeing God a little closer. In your darkest moments, they will offer a helping hand, and you're free to take it. But be warned: they are known for their mischief…
Now, embark on this journey through ruin, where every decision leaves a scar, and every scar becomes part of your story.
There is no more Order. Only what you are strong enough to bring back.
FOR MORE CARD AND BOARD GAMES FOLLOW US CARD GAME KING
Shards of Order is, refreshingly, not a roguelike. What it is, is a linear experience with some innovative mechanics and I absolutely love it. Normally, I don't mention price, but at 10 EUR the game provides a lot for content. So what's so great about it? Every card played matters. Since there are no turns, each card ticks down enemy's action counter based on the card's cost. There is no your turn-enemy turn mechanics - everything blends together into making each card play a brain-teasing mini-puzzle. The enemy design has good variety, and almost every encounter is unique. The Boss mechanics are clever and the accompanying animations coupled with its awesome aesthetic are just the cherry on top. The game isn't flawless though. The story was lacking even if it had an interesting premise. The characters' stories felt underdeveloped, even if they had potential. Once I saved a named NPC's relative from his demented pet and there was 0 dialogue afterwards to acknowledge the event. A simple thank you would've sufficed. It's quite the shame, because the premise and the worldbuilding are both interesting, it they never evolved further. Gameplay-wise, I wished there was more skill variation. Most skills are not that interesting and some skill tree branches require heavy dedication to even work. This all led to me changing my deck only a couple of times during the game. I still enjoyed the in-battle decisions so it never got repetitive even with the same decks, but a bit more variety would've been nice. It's similarly the case with equipment where low variety and limited equipment slots meant sticking to the "better" equipment (seriously, why ever change from the Sun Cape?) Apart from the relatively minor issues, for card-battler enjoyers Shards of Order is a must-play game that delivers tactical battles with a sprinkle of deckbuilding.
Favorite mechanics
• Time-based battles (though not real time). Every card played lowers the enemy action counter by its cost making each card play an important tactical choice.
The positive
+ Excellent combat mechanics + Amazing art and music + Plenty of content for its price
The neutral
* Interesting world but bland storytelling and no NPC character development.
The negative
- Could've used more variety in equipment choices and card upgrades to support different build experimentation.
Conclusion:
The subpar storytelling doesn't take away from the excellent combat, fueled by an innovative time mechanic. Royally approved, 9/10.

The production quality of this game for the price is insane! The music, voice acting and art work is all so fantastic!
You aren't getting anywhere unless your deck is how the developers want it to be set up.
Great game when it works. Unfortunately it does not work. I bought the game with sole reason of playing it on the steamdeck while on the go, e.g. morning walks. And the amount of problems spotted during one walk forces me to refund the game. I played the game with frames capped at 40. I will describe the situation now: Bought the game, installed it on the steamdeck, played it a bit before sleep to make sure it works well on steamdeck and after ten minutes turned the steamdeck off. Next morning, picked it up and turned it on during the walk that's when issues started: - Stutters in sound and frames - Frame freezes - Sound looping - Controls unresponsive Then finally I gave up trying to play, and quit to menu, and now menu is fully unresponsive - so I just quit game using steamdeck controls. And because I was on the walk and there was no internet connection on the deck - game refused to start. I tried two times and both times I just see black screen with nothing on it. When I came back home and connected to internet - the game started fine. Massive red flag - when game either tries to fetch some data or send some data online, while blocking the gaming experience I payed for. So even if I wanted to give the game the second try - I couldn't cause game blocked me. I trusted the developer comments about steamdeck and that was a mistake. This game wasn't properly tested on the steamdeck. In all fairness, I saw that latest update mentions the menu unresponsiveness, but I am not a fan of a game that I can't play properly on the sole device I bought it for. I will be refunding the game and following it - because developers seem to be updating game actively. For others my advice - give this game a wide time pause if you plan to play it on steam deck - it's not ready. However I personally will only buy in the future with discounts and if steam gives green checkmark. Don't want to deal with refund the second time.
Look, I know this is mean to say. I've only played like 15 minutes of this game, but what the ♥♥♥♥ is this writing? You cannot have this bad jokey dialogue in this edge-lord story and world. Whatever tone your artist was going for is getting kicked in the nuts every time the writer comes in and the Soldier's inner monologue is the some schlockey Marvel-ass joke like I'm playing Immortals of Aveum.
A great 12-20h game for a single playthrough. Interesting time mechanic, unique setting, interesting linear story. Definitely worth it for it's price. Highly recommended! Love shorter games, I get to finish them for once :D
13小时,煎熬完成,音效烂、画面烂、剧情烂、机制烂、汉化烂
I finished this game 2.5 times, and kind of prefer Tainted Grail: Conquest. Like a lot of random games, it ends abruptly, so you cannot play anymore. You know, no "end game." The UI for unlocking cards is kind of awful. It's a card game; this tech tree is a bit much. I want a lot of card options. I'd rather it be random with no respec, if it just means more choices and less tech tree clicking. It's nice that it's easy to make broken decks with the basic cards. First time I won, I didn't actually know what the Pray to God mechanic even did, because I made a simple infinite-esk deck that carried, so I never had to bother to use it. But the mechanic allows weaker thematic decks to function by healing your party from death. I would definitely play again if it got DLC or an expansion. The whole boss where you cannot win mechanic made me laugh a couple times at how it prevents you from winning. It's kind of disappointing that the "specific" boss mechanic doesn't pop up later. It’s somewhat short, which I think is great. I don’t want story games to go on forever; I like shorter length for better replayability. But you always have the same party of three, and the card “tech tree” doesn’t open up fast enough. Gear is cool though.
