I had a really good time with this game. It feels like a follow-up to Retro City Rampage DX, but a bit easier to get into and I actually managed to 100% it this time. There’s a lot going on in terms of gameplay, with tons of different mechanics, and while that keeps things interesting, it can also feel a bit messy at times. The whole idea of buying properties and slowly taking over the island is pretty fun, even if it doesn’t always match the whole “shakedown” theme the game is going for. I did complete the 3DS version and found out the PC version is much more better. It would have been great to have it in other languages such as French. Overall, I enjoyed it and just wish there were more games like this.
Biblically accurate Blackrock simulator
A very okay game, but not sure I could recommend it it anyone. It was very tiring mashing or hold A to skip the constant dialogue. The times where a cutscene end only for 3 seconds of gameplay the right into another cutscene got old quick.
Weirdly fun! It oozes charisma through its pores! The characters are incredibly charming and funny. The shooting, driving and general controls are great. The sound effects are mega nostalgic, and the scenery is beautiful. Awesome artistic direction! But things in the game happen too fast! Like ULTRA FAST! You spend like 2 minutes in each mission, then you're already doing another one completely different from the previous one. Sometimes a mission ends with something like "buy this to finish it". I don't mind quests being trivial, since it fits the comedy of the game (like fixing your printer because it has a subscription system that you would LOVE to exploit it for yourself) but they are too quick, you don't feel attached AT ALL to your progress. It's fast, it's fun and it's a great sandbox with a ridiculous amount of bite-sized content.
GTA II but better and no shark cards....
WE are in desperate need for another one of these...
Oh yes, shake it. Love the retro style here. The graphics are gorgeous, environments are destructive and the humour just oozes out of the screen (glad it's just the humour). This is all I've ever wanted from GTA 3 to be honest. Instead I got a sloppy, depressing and boring snoozefest in 3D while GTA 2 was a force to be reckoned with, one of a kind experience. And it seems as Shakedown: Hawaii developers decided to create a game in a very similar style to GTA 2. We've got a story here. An old boomer who listens to Creed and is a capitalistic pig wants to become the richest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in town (I guess Bezos does not exist in this timeline, too busy ruining LOTR with The Onion Rings Of Power) and to achieve that he'll do crime, buy all the properties, destroy wildlife, environment, just everything to see more dollars in his pockets. While our main character is deplorable while still being more ethical than half of the Vatican City, the biggest strength of this game is the fun core gameplay loop which never gets boring. Give this one a shot, it's worth your time if you love oldschool top-down open world games.
This game is awesome. The graphics are gorgeous, and I love the retro style. Environments are destructive, a lot of interiors to visit, a side game in the form of territories to conquest. If you are hyped for streets of rogue 2, this is definitely a must try. I really really love this game, and my kids does too
This game is similar to the classic Grand Theft Auto titles, the real old ones that were in 2D. With an atmosphere reminiscent of GTA Vice City. There are lots of properties to buy in it. A rather fun game.
