A must buy if you like Downwell. It also has a endless mode that gives it a ton of replay value. Seriously, if you like Downwell, you have got to buy this! Fun game for a great price.
A simple, yet challenging idea of falling with style. Dropping to platforms as long as there is no danger. constantly falling... don't get too angry then you get killed by the bug at a level's end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gm--L1r7mts
7/10 Neat Indie platformer
After almost 20 hours of playing this game, I find it in 3 words to describe it. Marvellous, Exciting, Enjoyable. Oh, you read that right. Those 3 words summed it up. [GRAPHIC] Okay, thing is, this game is really enjoyable. But how it is enjoyable? First the retro vibe and simple graphics are already mesmerizing. I mean, in this age now, how many of us can still enjoy some good old-school style game. This one does, so it's great! - CHECKED! [MUSIC] Music wise, absolutely catchy and melodic. Sure, it's a bit repetitive but old-school games are like that. Plus, it's not some dull and boring musics but rather, it fits the gameplay very well. Personally, I like it. And importantly, it brings me back to my younger days when I was playing those NES games. So yeah, it's cool, good and memorable. -CHECKED! [PLAYABILITY] The game is pretty simple and anyone can play it without any problem at all. I mean, look at the game, you just need to drop down from one platforms to another safely to reach the goal. Direct, Simple, Clear. And old-school retro games style should be like that, so this one has it all. - CHECKED! All in all, Serious Scramblers is a great game that is fun to play. And for that, I do reckon this game for a fun gaming time. =)
Serious Scramblers is developed by solo developer Chinykian, who is 1/3 of Rottenmage, the team behind Spacejacked. Like Spacejacked, Serious Scramblers requires quick thinking and even quicker reflex in order to master the game. All the player has to do is to move left or right to navigate through what seems to be a bottomless pit of a hole while collecting coins, landing on enemies and maintaining the right speed to avoid falling off the bottom of the screen or be impaled at the top for doing it too slowly.
Gameplay
+ Simple controls as only pressing "right" or "left" is required. + Simply move left or right to land on platforms/enemies or to avoid traps. + Levels get progressively harder and has a good challenging curve. - If you aren't particularly quick in terms of thinking and reflexes (like me), this can be of a challenge. + Has a number of characters with different stats to unlock with the coins you collect which provides you the right fit for your play style.
Graphics
+ Clean and fluid pixel art that is easy to distinguish what is what.
Music/Audio
+ Apart from the gameplay, the music and audio is a highlight. + Music blends in well and suits with the fast gameplay.
Everything else
+ Endless mode is available for players who seek a bigger challenge by going against other top players in the rankings. + Works well with a PS4 and Logitech Dual Action controller without any third party programme. + Available on iOS for iPhone users. +/- This isn't a review for the full game but only up till level 16 (I can't beat level 16 for nuts). Serious Scramblers in the end is a polished game that is very accessible for both casual and competitive players as it is simple to learn but a challenge to master. Serious Scramblers is a joy to be experience for those who are looking for quick bursts of challenging gameplay that will either make you feel like a God after a short session. Or like a silly person after trying to beat your own high score for hours. At the price point of $2.15 (SGD) or your region equivalent, it is not hard to recommend Serious Scramblers as you can have plenty of sessions of joy and salt in the endless mode. Good for some short sessions when you don't have the time to get too involved. Classic pixel graphics FTW =) Reminds me of: If you liked Downwell, there's a good chance you'll like Serious Scamblers. I appreciated that there are lots of unlockables (characters) and the music and sound effects fit really well with the theme. Good, straight-forward, old school fun that meets expectations.
Very fun game! I played this while listening podcasts so i can't comment on the music. The gameplay is simple but hard to master, you move left or right and try to fall fast enought so you dont get crushed while dodging obstacles. Has a nice sense of progression as there are 14 characters to unlock. It controls with A/D or arrow keys and it does not allow rebinding of controls. Endless mode can get pretty addictive if you try to set a highscore. Nice pixel art and the background doesn't causes eyestrain which is welcome. Totally recommend!

Pretty fun game, kind of addictive too. If this game were in the arcade in the 80s or 90s I would've sunk many quarters into it. I really like how it isn't game over after you die- the coins you collect can be used to respawn, which to me is the saving grace for this game. Levels are laid out pretty well, although I wish there were more of them. There's an endless mode available too, but I just like to stick to the main game. Only things I didn't like we're the characters you can unlock all have 1 or 2 perks but 1 or 2 things that cripple them too. The sole music track during levels is really noisy and gets repetitive quick (can be turned off), and I would like more variety in modes- something like Columns on Sega Genesis had were the difficulty stayed consistent would be a cool addition, as well as maybe a coin horde mode too. The platforms with spikes are too similar in color to the regular beams and they sprout really fast in my opinion. I got to the last level and to the boss but probably won't beat the game because if you die during the boss fight you have to restart the entire level unless you have coins to continue, and by then I ran out of coins to do so and didn't feel like grinding more for another run. Still a fun game though and well worth a purchase if you enjoy arcade games.
