A very underrated tower defense game, but pretty standard for the formula. It's fun to play some music to and have sit in the background. If I have any complaint though, it's the extremely dated wubba wubba kind of music... you know, dubstep. It's kind of horrible.
It's fine. This is a Tower Defense game. The graphics are modest, the music is repetitive but Okish. The story is not the big deal. No bugs but some stuff can cause a crash but is random and very rare. Runs on Win 7. Overall, it's entertaining but among the many TD games available it might be just above the meh side. It features two big campaigns, endless mode, and other variants. The game is unpolished and unbalanced. The enemies are bullet sponges and all your towers fully upgraded, and plenty of them, would not kill at times a single big target. So, later rounds would be all about using special powers and losing whenever the very slow recharge for them fails to get there on time. So, the game totally throws out of the window the strategy and the synergy, that is what makes the TD games interesting. It includes cards and achievements, but one of them gonna take you a long time to get. Anyway, here's a lukewarm recommendation but just because I feel generous today.
Runs just fine without the need for third party patches or downloads. It is good: - Persistent-progression / meta-progression with lots of things to unlock & upgrade between battles. - Made before ESG ruined everything. - Absolute bargain if you get it on sale. - A unique mechanic that sets it apart from other TD's is that you earn interest on money not spent; a simple yet effective risk/reward system Minor Nitpicks: - Having a game with 90's graphics blast you with dub-step is jarring to say the least XD. - Very limited options menu. - No rebind-able keys. - No tool-tips. - Unless you keep your mouse perfectly still while clicking on a turret to upgrade it, it will count as a 'click & drag' & just move the map instead, since left click is used for both functions. I shouldn't have to wrestle with smart-phone controls on PC. - Keeps spamming me with Steam achievements that I haven't unlocked after every battle, & every time the game loads. Despite all the nitpicks I really did have a lot of fun playing this, & absolutely recommend getting it on sale.
horrible port, devs should be ashamed!
Sentinel 3: Homeworld is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a cash grab by morally bankrupt mobile app developers. It's a badly made 2D retro pixel tower defense game designed for mobile phones and dumbed down harshly to accomodate the mobile peasants it was intended for. There's a sci-fi theme and a few different towers, but ultimately this pales in comparison in terms of both visuals and quality compared to even other mobile tower defense games like Kingdom Rush. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Sentinel 3: Homeworld has an overly optimistic price of around $7 USD, but it's only $2 on app stores... the mobile app scammers here thing PC gamers are here to be scammed into paying OVER THREE TIMES AS MUCH for a lame mobile app they dumped on Steam just to try scam PC gamers. Who do they think we are?
I have very fond memories of this game playing it in the early days on android after getting it for like 10 cents because Android store had that 1 billion app promo or something. It still slaps. Sure it is a lazy port but the nostalgia is worth the 1.17 euro I paid for it on sale. edit: This is a very nice game to open for 5-20 minutes at a time, same as on a phone. Very fun still.
This is an old game, but it is fun to play. Graphics are dated, but gameplay is exactly what you want with tower defense. Challenging, but not impossible. Infinite mode available. Unit type and placement matters. Tactics involved... If you like tower defense games, do not miss this one! This is top tier gameplay, even if the graphics are a bit... or a lot... dated.
10年的老游戏,但是在诸多方面都可以说做到了科幻塔防的极致。游戏的配乐极度符合背景,战斗体验极佳,创造性极强,美中不足就是年代久远导致的画面稍有模糊,最大化视角下有欠缺
