Sentimental Trickster: Yaoi BL Gay Visual Novel

This visual novel game is very complet! I enjoyed reading and playing it.

Untypical visual novel which also handles darker topics, making it feel truly genuine. Went with the Soichiro Route.

It's a okay fun game. Bought it on sale, cuz I was bored... The art feels very retro, in a nice way ! I liked Soichiro's route and Jin's too, Shinya has the best character development and made me like him. Kanae... is something... I see what they tried to do, but i think they combined a LOT of traits into one character, and told his story in a janky way, that doesn't really hits/is upsetting... Overall, it is a trope-y game but it's a fun time, just Kanae's a bit too much. [spoiler] The best supporting cast is Ayumi and the mc family. the others are a bit bland and one dimensionnal. One of the most important things in a BL visual novel is that the main character (you) is likable and I have to say that the one here is one of my favorites. Played all 4 routes. I really liked 2 of the routes. The problem with the other 2 routes is that I feel like the story needed to be fleshed out more. I felt unsatisfied. Yes, there is a NSFW patch/mod for this game. I played with it patched. You're not missing out if you don't have the patch. I feel like only one of the routes had a good setup for the NSFW scene. Even then, watching the scene unfold wasn't great. Why do they all look like they compete at bodybuilding shows? Overall, I'd say this "game" is worth playing, if you're into BL visual novels. This works fine on Steam Deck for those wondering.

It's a decent game - it has enough choices that you don't feel like you're just reading a novel for hours. And the storylines are surprisingly really decent! Rare to find that in BL visual novels these days (they always focus more on the hotness of the guys, so nice to see the storylines being so entertaining).

Sentimental is very accurate. It's a slow burn. Even with the text on very fast auto scroll nothing sexual happens for a good 4 hours. It's mostly about getting to know the other person. I prefer games with a little more variety, something to maintain interest until we get to the dramatic conclusion. But, if you're looking for slow romantic growth this is the game for you. The actual plot beats are nice and it's nice to see the plot continue even after love is declared.

This game is great! It's very sweet and each character really has their own story line. I'd recommend if you like this type of game. Edit: So that was when I just wen through one of the four options...the rest could be triggering to some people. Especially Ranae's story line. They should make a warning at the beginning saying his story line could be a problem for people with a certain type of history. The others were not as bad.
