Can you push through?! Security Hole is a challenging spatial puzzle with a cyberpunk story. You become a hacker who passes 3D virus blocks through security holes to save humanity. The game mechanics look like a workout tool for spatial thinking.
DARKKi's Dark Star Reviews - Security Hole
You could describe Security Hole as being some kind of 3D Tetris with Hacking / Cyberpunk premise / storyline. This game revolves around the idea of hacking represented by getting blocks (Tetris style) trough the hole. You can rotate the pieces in 3D space in order to get it trough the hole and it is easy to learn but still manages to be challenging. Every stage has multiple "passes" trough the hole where you get more blocks added every time you pass the hole and thus more challenge. Getting those things solved fast gets you rewarded with bonus points and boosters help with harder ones. There are also few other types of puzzles and branched levels. There is cyberpunk / hacker story for this game (text with animated images) which is not the best but still good enough for fans of cyberpunk material. I only have one gripe for this. Usually it is just few lines of text before the next "hacking". I would have liked to get more material between the game phases than just what is presented now. For me i enjoyed this game more in little doses than playing for hours. 7.0/10 Gameplay has been balanced pretty good so you can get into it right away but still represents good challenge. Games graphics and soundtrack capture this game almost perfectly and altough it is nice to have story like this in puzzle game my main gripe with it is that we have only get treated few lines of text for one stage of gameplay, it could have been balanced much better. But if anyone is looking for Spatial puzzle game then I would recommend this. Even more if you are fan of cyberpunk!
Pros:

Nice cyberpunk / hacker story
Fitting soundtrack and graphics / art
Easy to learn but hard to master

Cons:

Pacing of story vs game is not balanced

Hardware Information

[th]Hardware[/th] [th]Type[/th]

CPU AMD FX-8350 @ 4,7GHz

GPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 MSI Armor OC - Overclocked

RAM 16GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 1830Hz

Controller Xbox One and Playstation 3 Contollers

OS Windows 10 Pro 64bit

VR Oculus Rift CV1

Disclaimer:

Source of consideration: I got this game for review purposes but it does not influence my opinion
This game was a total disappointed. Basically "the game" is: push a few blocks through a hole, read 2 or 3 lines of text, push a few blocks through a hole, read a few lines etc. Maybe it will start somewhere but after 1,5 hours I can no longer stand it to find out. There is no game, no movement, only some static screen pictures with a few lines of text every time. This is one of the most boring, repetitive and annoying games I have ever seen. Pure punishment instead of fun. If you really want to try it out for free, cut out one page of a book and allow yourself to read 3 lines after you have done the most terrible chores. The experience will be the same but at least you will have a clean house by the time you finish this one page of text.
One of the best if not THE BEST casual / brain-teaser game I have ever seen. It will improve your spatial thinking / problem solving ability as well as your perception and thinking speed. :)) Highly recommended for everyday brain-training tool too!
Overall a very good puzzle game, I found the story to be bland and not very interesting and kind of unecessary. However the good looking minimalistic graphics, good game modes, and easy to use control system kept me interested and enjoying the game. I posted a video review for any interested in my full opinions of the game here: https://youtu.be/br0ncPUSjBw
The style of the trailer led me to believe the game would have something similar but that wasn't the case. Seemed interesting at first but it got old pretty quick.
Security Hole: ~~~~~~~~~~~ Sitting down in front of a laptop, looking back and forth between the 12-inch screen and the USB flash drive firmly positioned in the palm of your right hand. The temptation to insert the flash drive into its dedicated port is growing on you . . . what’s on it? It’s a 3D Virus and it’s asking for your help . . . but your help to do what? To go through security holes to save humanity! Security Hole is a 3D puzzle game set in a spatial environment with a cyberpunk storyline, which is little bit unusual. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this combination. The storyline is that you have to help a constantly evolving virus to go through security holes within a certain amount of time and moves. The first couple of levels will be simple and will show you how to use the controls. Essentially, the virus is formed as a shape. It could be several squares attached together, triangles and/or any number of other shapes. In each level, a pattern will be displayed, outlined in red. The trick is to fit the virus through this different design within a limited period of time. It will really make your brain work fast, figuring out at what angle the virus can fit into the space. Rotation is important too; if you rotate the structure incorrectly it will mean failure. Never forget, the virus evolves each time it successfully fits into a security hole, which subsequently increases the difficulty at the next stage. If you think you need more time to solve a puzzle, you can use the booster option, which will rewind the time slightly. This is essentially how the puzzles are played. There is an additional type of puzzle to solve, however. With these you must quickly recognise which one of the four rotating structures is the same as the one in the middle of the screen. It can be tricky, too! The good news (if there is any), is that when you fail a level, a brand new structure will be randomly created and you might finally pass. What I like about the combination of the puzzles and the story is that your brain can relax between the two phases, especially when you have tried to beat a level over and over again. Good artwork with a nice soundtrack. It will take you a while to use the controls properly; I strongly suggest using the gamepad. Positives: ~~~~~~~ - Good artwork - Interesting storyline - Random shapes on each level - Challenging puzzles - Stacks of achievements - Trading cards Negatives: ~~~~~~~~ - Frustrating at times Is hacking really that simple? 7/10 Key provided by developer/publisher for review purposes. I really enjoyed this geometric puzzler and will continue to do so for quite some time yet. This is not a complicated or lengthy review but tells you what you need to know when thinking of making a purchase of this game. You get excellent graphics, good gameplay and a great soundtrack and the game pulls you in for repeated attempts at getting to that next level. When you have had enough, you can come back to this game again and again. Well worth the money, 8/10. Thank you.
