Secrets of the Past: Dion is a cute, simple casual game simulating the process of an archaeological excavation. The game has a sense of authenticity, and while the player doesn't get to be too hands on with the excavation, the basic principles of leading such a project are there. Meeting deadlines, delegating people to tasks and inspecting the unearthed artifacts are all there. The game offers three difficulty levels. The main differences between them seem to be the allotted time to complete the dig, and the more complicated requirements for assembling your exhibit at the end, with the higher difficulties requiring you to actually look at the in-game notes to construct the exhibit. The main negative of the game is that there is really only the one digsite - while you can randomize the artifacts, the scenario itself will always be the same, and there are no additional stages to explore. This is a shame, as the game has plenty of potential, and it would have been interesting to be able to experience more of a campaign. Regardless, it's a fun if short game for anyone even remotely curious about archaeology.

"Secrets of the Past: Dion" is a simple but genuinely made educational game where you do a little "archaeology" themed digging on small isometric maps. The game works a bit like a tycoon game where you allocate staff to different jobs and uncover historical artifacts from the dig. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $1 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 14 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
Before I played Secrets of the Past: Dion, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Игра 'Secrets of the Past: Dion' оказалась приятным сюрпризом.
why is this on steam it should be on the app store
An informative and pleasant game. Quick and enjoyable. It was fun learning while playing.
