Blastin all fast! reminds me of sonic. Sometimes you're going so fast flow state kicks in and you just go wompin. What a blast.
Despite the other reviews comparing this game to Sonic, the only thing this game has in common with the hedgehog is the blistering fast speed that you can achieve. Regardless from the few levels I played so far, SCRAM is a mesmerizing game. It is so easy to complete a level and think "I can go faster," over and over again, running, dashing, and slashing until you have a near perfect run. What the game most reminded me of was rhythm games, in particular bit.trip runner. Despite being early access there seems to be plenty of levels to sink your teeth into, especially for the price.
Great and enjoyable game. Looking forward to more from Rapid Fire Games.
A fast-paced game with surprisingly deep mechanics all geared toward boosting your speed to be the fastest on each level.
Despite being early access, Scram offers plenty of content for the offering price with three worlds and three bosses with an additional three worlds hinted to be coming soon from the world selection. The mechanics behind the game offer quite a bit of replayability as there are numerous hidden mechanics that the game does not explicitly tell you and allows you to figure out on your own (which I will go over shortly in more detail) as you are vying for that top spot on the leaderboard to secure the fastest time. The game rewards you with speed for timing your hits and dodges successfully through enemies and obstacles which feels incredibly satisfying as others have mentioned allow you to achieve incredibly fast speeds. While you are gradually gaining speed at the start of the level, you start getting comfortable with the pace of the game and since each level is short and sweet, it gives you room to experiment. This is where I think this game really shines. As stated previously, you are rewarded for playing well by gaining speed. As I was experimenting to see how I could go faster, I noticed some details that aren't explicitly noted but adds a layer of complexity to allow the player to try to implement this knowledge to beat their previous run. For example, successful hits increase your top speed by +1 while successful dodges through enemies or obstacles increase your speed by +2. It feels like there is a shorter delay between hits than your dodges, so hitting with your sword is the safer option but with a little less payoff in terms of speed making you think about how to best approach each level. Closing thoughts: The mechanics feel smooth and like many of the other reviews have noted, when you are in the zone and reaching those breakneck speeds, that's when you really get a sense of what makes this game stand out among other platformers/speed run type games. I understand the parallels drawn to Sonic games because of the speed, but this game has a pretty unique set of mechanics that let it stand on its own with its sword/dodge/jump mechanics. On successful dodge/hit it refreshes your ability to jump and dodge, creating a really interesting game in how you can approach and complete each level.
This game is really fun has really good art. Its worth to pay small price for a game like this!
The game is simple, straightforward and easy to pick up. All credits in its favor. its addictive loop comes from trying to crush yours and players previous times. the game play is great in that regard and keeps you coming back again and again to try "one mo time!" solid recommend.
Very addictive game, keeps me entertained so I highly recommend! It's challenging and perfect for anyone who enjoys a bit of competition. Also graphics are really pleasant. Overall 10/10
Great game. It plays like sonic with the speed you can get. The levels are fun and when you get to top speed you lock in. W game in every way of the sorts. Problems here or there but great game overall.
A fast and fun little game. Levels aren't particularly long, which lends to a fast sense of progression, and makes it easy to want to retry levels over and over to improve those times! It feels good to go faster, and faster. Must. Go. Faster!
