About
We're still waiting for Valve to officially verify Scarlet Deer Inn, but we designed the game to work well on it.
ABOUT
Scarlet Deer Inn is an embroidered dark medieval folk tale. While life in a seemingly ordinary village is all about simple chores and idle gossip, sinister secrets hide below.

Beautiful hand-painted backgrounds and traditional animations crafted from physically embroidered frames.
A world filled with colourful characters.
Hidden shortcuts in the dark that make each playthrough easier.
Folk music inspired by the Middle Ages and performed on traditional instruments.
THE STORY
Elise is a mother of two. She is not exactly extraordinary, and there are no heroic epics written about her.
Her circumstances will force her to explore unusual places and face dark, terrifying situations.
THE TEAM
Attu Games is a husband-and-wife team from the Czech Republic. During the development of Scarlet Deer Inn, their duo expanded into a trio with the birth of their baby, bringing a whole new level of chaos to the process.

Beautiful look, and cool idea, but it was too hard for me. Lots of backtracking in tunnels. I got stuck several times and had to look it up online. After that I was done. 😆
Have been following this game through its development over the past few years. Have just started playing it but the art style is amazing and is already well worth the purchase

Lets start with the things that I like about this game: 1. The story and characters are really interesting, there were even a few jokes that made me laugh. 2. The soundtrack is amazing and really adds to the world building and the story, I would listen to some of the songs in my free time. 3. I don't think that I need to say it but the game looks beautiful, it's not an art style that you see a lot in games but this game does it and it nailed it. 4. the main character is so well written and even sometimes said what I was thinking which I think is really good. And now, unfortunately, I will say the things I didn't like: 1. The game tries to do so much things that in some point it just becomes confusing. 2. The game doesn't do a good job of conveying the story and sometimes it feels like the game just lets you run around until you find the right path. 3.Some parts of the game can be REALLY slow and it can turn feel like nothing happens. 4. During the game you will encounter puzzles that even a baby could solve, which takes away from the experience a bit, and there were also parts that made you feel like they were part of a certain puzzle, but then you discover that it was simply the game that was blocking the way to guide you where to go, which really sucks, for me at least. In conclusion: The game feels like the creators invested so much in the story, style, and music that they simply didn't think about the gameplay, and don't get me wrong, I personally really appreciate games that put the story above the gameplay, my favorite game is like that, but unlike this game, the other games used the gameplay to give a feeling of interaction and to convey the story, and here the game is based on the gameplay, but like I said before, there was no thinking about the gameplay, but I would still recommend playing the game just to enjoy the story and music. I give the game a 7/10.
Be forewarned before buying that this game is very short. This isn't inherently a bad thing for most, but I finished at 3.6 hours. I felt like the moment I was becoming fully engaged and ready to see what happens next it abruptly ends. In terms of narrative you'll get a good mix of morbid and warm. The game presents honest looks into the darker parts of folklore, while also challenging the player to fully engage in the grey areas of morality more than the binary good and evil. The characters are rich, realistic and the team writes harsh and complicated people so effortlessly. You'll face some real jerks, but there's a sense of realism into not only how they present themselves but how the protagonist responds to them. The game-play may feel thin, but after a while you get a sense of the rhythm. A mixture of point and click, collectible and Prince of Persia style platforming. The puzzles are not inherently difficult, but provide a nice sense of comfort and slight challenge. That is... until the final boss. The final boss becomes a Hollow Knight boss, where you have to study each pattern and hone your skills. This would be fine if it wasn't so out of left field game-play wise. The final boss felt more like a first boss in anticipation to cross a threshold into deeper action game-play... But then the game just ends. There's a moment of pure intrigue within a new character and it just sort of stops... cryptic, yes, but not the landing that felt satisfying. This may have been intentional, but still It felt like someone just walked to my steam deck and turned it off. There's plenty of subtext and nuance to the themes and collectibles, with community, folklore lessons, and religious fear within people. but it gets lost within the short length of game. It became a game of great style an beauty, excellent threaded sprites, music and writing. But I left hungry for more.
This was a delightful game. As not an avid gamer and someone who usually only plays cozy games, this was wonderful! Not too long or hard but just challenging enough for my noobness (that end boss fight killed me like a dozen times), Only took me around 5 hours to complete which might have been shorter if I hadn't wandered so much. And the art design and music was beautiful. Can't wait to see more games from these developers. 10/10
Beautiful, Artistic, would recommend!
Absolutely beautiful game and wonderful soundtrack. Story was fun, though it is a rather short game, beat it under 3 hours just when i was starting to unravel the mystery of it all. Was hoping for more, but i still recommend. Thoroughly enjoyed my time with this game
A great example of atmosphere, and a unique artstyle. Game provides enough challenge to be intersting without being frustrating. Embroudery in a medival world makes sensem and was refreshing, but I do wonder if the artstyle could have lent itself to the gameplay somehow.
A beautiful, dark, sometimes quiet and sometimes fast and dangerous game with an incredible soundtrack. This game has been surprising and wonderful. Give it a try!
