About

Every decade, the Mka tribe sends caravans of adventurers into the Phithi, the meteorological chaos that keeps the Uwando tribes isolated from each other and makes life outside the refuges almost impossible.
Their mission: to establish diplomatic and trade relations, to explore and reclaim the lands left to the mercy of monsters and pirates, and, most importantly, to plant a new tree city that can become a refuge for the Mka and their allies. Regardless of the success or failure of their mission, the caravans must send the memories they have gained back to the capital, using the crystospheres carried by traveling beetles.

Guide a caravan of adventurers through varied landscapes.
Fight hordes of pirates, wizards and monsters, and survive acid rain, storms and heat waves.
Rescue refugees, seek allies to support you and stir up the past in search of the causes of Phithi.
Keep hope: in this hostile desert, the caravaneers' faith in their mission is all that protects them from certain death.
Progress by passing on your knowledge to a new caravan.

Make choices that will affect your future expeditions.
Each character has different powers. It's up to you to explore lost ruins as an archaeologist or to track down massive creatures as a hunter.
Don't underestimate the weather! It conditions the movements of caravanners and the outcome of confrontations.
Repair the broken climate, and put an end to centuries of wandering.

This game has quickly become one of my favorite strategy games to play. I absolutely love the battle system, thats my favorite part. There are just a few things that I dont like that I'll list below. The caravan management system needs some work imo, because many a time I have simply ran out of supplies and have exhausted my resources available on the map. It seems to me like the best strategy is to never double back, because since any map tile is a one-time-use resource, to double back would be to leave yourself stranded with no potential supplies. Also on a completely random side note, it would be cool if there were more minutia when it came to the management aspect of this game. If there were some upgrades that you could make to your caravan (outside the crystal library ofc) think something like darkest dungeon. PROS: - Battle system is very engaging and fun - Items are actually useful and cool - Characters are well-designed and playing with each character is a fun unique experience - World lore is really cool and interesting - The enemies are varied and sometimes are a cheeky way to keep your caravan afloat - Graphics are beautiful - Quests are engaging and evocative, they make you care about the inhabitants of the world CONS: - PLEASE, MORE HEALER OPTIONS (as far as I know, I could be totally mistaken(!!), there's only one class that can heal, and healing is absolutely crucial to the survival of your caravan. and the fact that they cant heal themself?? Thats just sadistic :[ ) - One-note team build. It seems like there's only a few team comp options that will actually get you to the end game. While the characters are awesome, that makes for some boring gameplay after a while. - More supplies tiles, please! They are quite few and far between after a while, and you can really really shoot yourself in the foot if you aren't careful. Other than that, I dont have much to say. The game is great, I'd absolutely get it again. I got it on sale, I'm not sure this game is worth 20 dollars in its current state, but I'd get it on sale every time.
I think you need a higher tolerance for repetitive tasks than I have to enjoy this game. First things first, this game is dripping with atmosphere. The intro had me hooked hard, I was excited for the story, it seemed like such a fascinating world to discover, filled with interesting people. And then it lost me with how long it took me to get from place to place to actually discover anything. What I saw of the combat was decent enough, but the actual bulk of the gameplay loop was plotting courses between different locations to make sure you don't run out of supplies and die of starvation in the wilderness. Now, I don't want to yuck anyone's yum if they like that kind of rout planning, and I recognize that the time I spent in game charting out these routs helped reflect the fact I was supposed to be on a gruelingly long quest, but personally I just found it tedious. There also seems to be a mechanic where leveling up the caravan is linked to dying (if I didn't have to die to level up then I never figured out how). Certain item classes were locked behind this form of level up. The gameplay didn't really *force* me to take on challenges beyond my abilities, and I think it's very possible to grind up your characters in relatively safe areas to reach into more difficult bioms (leveling characters is a different mechanic than leveling caravans). It was a tedious process... but the alternative was to deliberately charge into an area I knew my team couldn't handle, suiciding them because I was bored of their power level. This strategy would have caused a bit of narrative dissonance for me, and the narrative was the primary reason I was playing. I don't know if a better leveling system would have caused me to enjoy the game, but it certainly made it feel like more of a slog to me. Overall, the story looks great, I don't know I didn't really get that far into it, but the enjoyment I got didn't really seem to keep up with the number of hours I was putting into it.
A rogue-like for exploration and survival. The philosophy of combats is "try not to get into combats". Everything is very simple, yet fun. You always want to go further and further than you did last time.
It's alright, I guess. The turn-based combat is fun, but it becomes extremely imbalanced once you figure out which playstyle you're going for. Exploration is enjoyable too, but most of the time it isn't very rewarding. I guess the main selling point is the story. It's great to have a roguelite with an actual narrative, and I also like that there's an in-universe explanation for why you start over each run. But the story lost me somewhere in the second half. At some point it just became way too convoluted for me. When you're constantly reading stuff like, "The Uuggr have to take the Maakrrii to the Mugululu of the Mashatkz to stop the Zapirks," it just gets to be too much. Neat UI choice, though. All those lore-specific terms are highlighted, and you can hover over them to get an explanation in a little text box. Still, the story never really managed to pull me back in. But yeah, all in all, it's alright. Somewhere between meh and good, loved the atmosphere.
If u change balance, upgrade some mechanics and change some graphic (Not pixel art but some thinghs are not clear, exemple when lvl up hero u dont know what skill is better rare) this game will be great :D Now its rly good but when u finish Sandwalkers 2 with some changes game will be perfect :D
