About
Salad Fields is a DREAMYQUEER experience.
In this block-pushing adventure-puzzle game, you explore surreal lands and meet strange folks...

Folks include:
-=- Yippie the gay leather-mouse who bakes doughnuts using vegetables
-=- Kizzy the computer who fears Y2K
-=- Myrtyl the anti-cop queer skater punk
-=- Fancy Andy the ampersand-shaped butler and wannabe beekeeper
-=- 3 "dudebirds" (dudebro + bird)

Two gameplay modes for flexible playstyles:
-=- "Puzzle mode" provides challenge
-=- "Exploration mode" lets you walk right through the puzzles, making the game's various bizarre worlds accessible to anyone (...anyone weird enough to play this game)

*informercial voice* But how big is this game, you ask?! It's pretty goshdarn big. :O
-=- Over 100 (ONE HUNDRED) puzzles!
-=- 30 music tracks, or over an hour of music!
-=- A whole bunch'a locations and characters and things!

The devs:
Resni is the creator of the unofficial cult-classic "Mibibli's Quest", and jars received their MFA and likes puzzles.
We are also queer furries and a couple. Salad Fields might seem very silly (and it is) but we feel it reflects our truths as strange misfits in various ways. We hope that you find something in it you resonate with. :3

really exceptional take on a Sokobon puzzle game featuring a bunch of different novel mechanics, some pleasantly garish 90's looking 3d rendered art, some nice musical vibes, and a silly loose story with a cast of various characters (some of which i like more than others). def recommended - one of the better puzzle games out there, and it has more to offer in terms of the general mood and off-beat tone of the writing as well.
Fun but tough. Very grateful that for the inclusion of the casual difficulty mode that allows players to bypass puzzles. I had to throw in the towel early on because I'm no good... but I still had a great time! +++ OST, Fun writing, & graffix If this looks interesting to you at all please check it out.
Bought it on itch and bought it again, good game, would buy again.
Really a shame that Salad Fields doesn't have more reviews or downloads. If you need a short review: If you like really cool puzzle mechanics, surreal visuals, and/or the really unique brand of humor that Salad Fields offers, buy this game. It is worth the full price. Additionally, if you don't like puzzles, you can turn them off and just explore the environment. I was originally drawn in by the surreal environments, but I stayed for the really subversive humor and surprisingly challenging and innovative puzzle mechanics. Salad Fields genuinely brings some things to this genre I've never seen before and isn't afraid to give the player real challenges early on. Even still, you're not required to finish all puzzles to continue to the next area, meaning you can simply walk away from a puzzle and find a different one if you're having trouble. It makes skipping puzzles feel less like a crutch, and more like a simple gameplay choice. The general tone of the game is rooted in surrealism and absurdity, but I don't feel like either is ever taken too far. Characters have clear personalities and quirks and meeting new ones is always interesting, but in general, all the dialog feels like a subtle commentary on different topics which ends up being pretty funny and amusing. Overall, I'm excited to play more of Salad Fields, and I really hope you decide to pick up the game. A clear and obvious amount of work went into this game, and it's a shame it's not being more appreciated.
very much like very gay
yass
A lot of really good puzzles
This ain't no side salad...
...this is a main dish. All of us owe it to ourselves to occasionally embody the contagious childlike optimism of the 90s. It was an era full of vibrancy juxtaposed by an undercurrent of post modern grunginess. The advent of home computers was transitioning previously state-of-the-art technology into consumer grade software, and the western world was taking its first steps towards becoming the interconnected yet equally disconnected global society that it is today. 🅖🅡🅐🅟🅗🅘🅒🅢 There are trends which stand the test of time, and other stylistic choices which fade into oblivion. If there were one style which - if asked 20 years ago - would last to the distant year of 2023, rudimentary polygonal 3D renders likely wouldn't have been particularly high on my list. Whether the art style stands on its own merits or clings desperately to nostalgia, it's inarguable that it's a striking aesthetic choice, and it certainly drew me into Salad Fields. 🅟🅛🅞🅣 The plot of Salad Fields is a fever dream, and has largely little relation to the gameplay. This being said, taking the story out of Salad Fields is like taking 'Salad' out of Salad Fields. Fields by themselves are nice, but they aren't nearly as unique as Salad Fields. Incomprehensible analogies feel tonally appropriate for this game since very little goes the sensible route. If you ever wanted to play through a video game adaptation of one of Joel C's nonsensical YouTube videos, then Salad Fields certainly has you covered. (Sidenote: If you're a fan of the absurd, and haven't seen Joel C's vids yet, do yourself a favour and go watch em now, leave me hanging here, I won't even care) 🅖🅐🅜🅔🅟🅛🅐🅨 The Sokoban puzzler style has been done to death, but Salad Fields absolutely knocks it out of the park with original mechanics. Something about Salad Fields's puzzle design is just captivating, and I don't think there's been a puzzle game that's stoked the same kind of obsession in me for quite some time. I wrote a Steam guide, for God's sake, I was under this game's friggin spell. Salad Fields is honestly one of the most engaging puzzle games I've ever played, and I've played a long list of puzzlers. To conclude, I don't know why I liked this game so much. I'm not in the furry community and find the vast majority of Sokoban games to be quite dull. I guess it's a testament to the quality of this title that neither of these things mattered and I had an amazing time playing through it. More people should give Salad Fields a try. Eat your salad people, it's good fer you. 9/10
Addictive puzzle game with funny moments, queer characters, and cool pixel art. Lots of meta humour and you can't. skip. the. dialogue....
