Saint Kotar: The Crawling Man, developed and published by The-Mark Entertainment, is a deeply atmospheric and psychological horror adventure that immerses players in a dark, mysterious world filled with unsettling secrets and moral ambiguity. As a sequel and expansion to the original Saint Kotar, this installment builds upon the franchise’s foundation of eerie storytelling and slow-burning tension, delivering a narrative-driven experience that skillfully blends investigative gameplay with supernatural elements. It invites players to unravel a disturbing mystery in the isolated village of Sveti Kotar, where nothing is quite as it seems. The game’s story centers on protagonist Daniel Lazarski, a man haunted by his past and drawn to Sveti Kotar by cryptic messages and strange occurrences. From the outset, the narrative plunges players into a moody, unsettling atmosphere thick with religious symbolism, occult lore, and existential dread. The pacing is deliberate, encouraging exploration and reflection rather than quick bursts of action. As players navigate the bleak village and its surrounding environments, they uncover disturbing clues, interact with complex characters, and confront supernatural forces that challenge their understanding of reality. The narrative is layered and often ambiguous, demanding attentive engagement and interpretation, which enhances the psychological horror experience. Gameplay in The Crawling Man is primarily focused on exploration and puzzle-solving, with an emphasis on environmental storytelling. Players collect notes, diaries, and other fragments that gradually piece together the village’s dark history and the fates of its inhabitants. The puzzles are thoughtfully integrated into the environment and narrative, often requiring players to connect disparate elements or decode cryptic symbols. Combat is minimal and typically indirect, reinforcing the game’s focus on atmosphere and tension rather than action. This design choice amplifies feelings of vulnerability and suspense, making each discovery feel more impactful. Visually, Saint Kotar: The Crawling Man employs a gritty, muted color palette that complements its somber tone. The environments are richly detailed, from the desolate village streets to the eerie interiors of abandoned buildings and hidden crypts. The art direction emphasizes decay and neglect, reinforcing the themes of loss and corruption that permeate the story. Sound design plays a crucial role in building unease, with a haunting score and subtle ambient noises like creaking wood, distant whispers, and unsettling silence heightening the sense of isolation and dread. One of the game’s notable strengths lies in its writing and character development. The villagers of Sveti Kotar are portrayed with nuance, their stories interwoven with the overarching mystery and lending emotional weight to the unfolding horror. Themes of guilt, redemption, and faith are explored in ways that challenge the player’s morality and assumptions. The dialogue and narrative choices often force players to consider the consequences of their actions, adding a layer of psychological complexity that deepens immersion. However, The Crawling Man is not without its challenges. Its slow pace and heavy reliance on narrative and puzzles may not appeal to players looking for fast-paced horror or intense combat. Some may find the story’s ambiguity frustrating, as key elements are left open to interpretation rather than fully explained. Additionally, the game’s interface and controls can feel clunky at times, which may hinder immersion or disrupt the flow of exploration. Overall, Saint Kotar: The Crawling Man is a compelling psychological horror adventure that excels in atmosphere, storytelling, and mood. It offers a richly textured world filled with mysteries to unravel and moral dilemmas to navigate. While it demands patience and thoughtful engagement, the payoff is a haunting and memorable experience that lingers long after the game ends. For fans of slow-burning horror and narrative-driven adventures, The Crawling Man is a dark gem worth exploring. Rating: 8/10

This review is specially made for those who like to get all the achievements in games. Minor spoilers ahead. Description: Saint Kotar: The Crawling Man is a very short horror interactive visual novel about a once respected man that falls into madness and ostracism. There are no choices to be made, you just click and move to the next page of the book. I tried to look for more information about this character and it seems it’s not an historical figure but a fictional one. The graphics are hand drawn and have a professional comic book art quality, the scenes with high contrast and bright colors are particularly impactful and give a great dramatic effect. The ambient sounds and music also work well in creating a sinister ambiance. Achievements: How many: 10 Achievements. How much time: Around 15 minutes. Game difficulty: Very Easy. Achievements’ Difficulty: Very Easy, all story related and automatic. Overall opinion: The Crawling Man is a very short horror interactive visual novel with an interesting story and beautiful, very dramatic illustrations that work very well with the theme of the story. But it’s only 15 minutes long, so buy it with a big discount if you can. Mojse is the main character in this comic, we see him as a man who is liked by others, and a teacher and prophet of god and we see his fall. We meet other characters, like Antum,Mother nun, Mayor,Davor,Ivan Kotar a bit about him. King of yellow is mentioned a little who likes flesh. We see food and jobs being a issue, also the mountain seems like a demon place. We see how Mojse lose legs, I was surprised how he crawled from the mountain, and became a bitter man. This comic is nice, with sound and have to click to move forward. I think it would be good to see other back story of characters, and this was free for me as kickstarter backer.
Excellent companion to the main game. I especially enjoyed the modern comic book layout. Good stuff!
One of the best interactive comics I've read in recent times
Saint Kotar.
