Initially, the game didn't convince me. You can very much tell that it is not a game made with PCVR in mind, interaction with the environment occurs exclusively through spells and a simple grab mechanic and the story initally felt simple and surface level. However, I'm glad that something kept me going, because as it goes on the game really shows its greatest strength: it's not a sandbox. The additional spells and equipment unlocked by progressing the story make entering the ruins again and again actually enjoyable. The initial fear of the "single" dungeon being too repetitive subsided upon seeing the different types of enviroments the game manages to offer without ever straying entirely from the Magic Ruins theme. Similarily, the presentation during some of the cutscenes genuinely impressed me and some plot points of the subplots did manage to surprise me. While I usually have low tolerance for cutscenes and dialogue in VR, I found myself looking forward to seeing what the game had to show me next. Overall, both gameplay and narrative, while neither is perfect, went far beyond what I expected after playing the demo and I'm very glad I decided to stick with the game.
What a delightful little VR ARPG. c: OK, so, first and foremost, I played a good six hours of this on HTC's Viveport service (came free with my Reverb G2 'back in the day'), and have only recently picked it back up 'legitimately' on Steam, so I haven't quite caught up to where I was, but I've got a good general gist of how it plays and how the quality has held up that I feel qualified to comment on its quality. Quite frankly, the biggest, most noticeable issue Ruinsmagus has is that its English translation is pretty wonky. The script is pretty rough, grammatically, and it is /most/ noticeable in system text. Not to the degree that I think you would end up confused or misled on how any mechanics work, but enough that it can kind of take you out of the experience, and it does admittedly kind of lend a bad first impression on setting the game apart from what you'd expect out of your usual cheap low-budget 'tech demo' sort of VR game. That being said, you've got a pretty stellar cast behind the dub for the translation! Back in 2023, they released an update that added English VAs, and though I couldn't really place any names to voices beyond 'hey i (vaguely) recognize them from that anime i watched once', they all do a great job. Mechanically, you've got relatively simple, but ultimately satisfying systems to play with. Your right hand fires projectiles, and your left arm holds a shield you can use to block damage (at the cost of shield health, which /does/ regenerate but regenerates /slowly/) or to parry some attacks back. You've got a handful of skills you can assign to two slots that you can use with your grip button, and you can swap through items like health potions, grenades, and buff elixirs. There are a handful of additional mechanics, like a dash and a basic upgrade system for your weapons, but that's about it. Fortunately, with how they're implemented here in VR, it all melds pretty effectively into a fun combat loop that I doubt would hold as well as it would have if it were in a pancake game, but here, it holds up for long enough that I feel confident in saying I'll definitely be going for S ranks on all the missions I didn't nail. Has me very excited for the developer's next game. It's not a standout masterpiece that redefines the VR landscape, but it feels like a solid title that would've come out on any of the sixth gen consoles, and given how many of the current selection of VR games feel really devoid of that sort of substantive experience, it makes this game really endearing to me.
The game will not launch no matter how many times I try I played it once before on the quest 3S it was perfectly fine with that but for whatever reason it won't launch on steam VR chat will sword reverie will but this game will not That's frustrating I can't play it on the quest anymore I will refuse I want to keep it with steam because quest got rid of my Facebook account which made me lose all my games so Mark Zuckerberg needs a punch in the face but that's near here or there I want to be able to play my game I'm not paying for something and not getting the product I paid for
Everything that is fun or unique can be observed from the trailer and screenshots on the store page, not worth a buy at anything over 10 usd
Great Story
its a good vr game :>
Bewertung: 7.5/10
