Great art style and enthralling story. Me and my grandma are spending her last few years together collecting the gems. Hopefully we can get them all before she passes
Editing my review as I have played more and the dev has already updated some prior problems and is working on more I am still playing through this, so my opinion may change. The game is indeed cute with a simple but enjoyable story line. There are many raccoons and other animals to enjoy. And the game is a lot bigger then I expected, lots of levels, unlockables, and hidden secrets. The music is pleasant and fitting, and I see no issues with graphics. However, this game is not without faults. 1. The controls can be horrendous. During scenes with a fixed camera, it's very hard to get Roxy to run the way you want. Using a key board and mouse to fine tune her, and then a controller to actually play has made this a bit more enjoyable. 2. Enemy visuals during sneak are still a bit inconsistent. The police could see me through a wall. The foxes sometimes see me in a bush. The scarecrows can see me no matter what. 3. Some bugs. Roxy can climb past tree tops in the graveyard, the Cauldron ball game is going too fast (dev is addressing this). In the Swamp level, some areas that look like grass are actually swamp. The same level, the log mini game hit boxes seem off. 4. Still need some hints about where things are. Hide and seek with the rabbit, is there an area he can/cannot be in?
This game is super cute and honestly a lot of fun! I love all the unlockable cosmetics, variety on gameplay, and levels.
After a bored witch thinks she's better than everyone, she casts one final curse to offer the rest of the world one last chance to defeat her. Unfortunately, a buddy of Roxy Raccoon is caught in the blast. With the help of her furry friends, Roxy goes to the city to save her. This is a charming platformer in low-poly graphics that doesn’t bring anything new and doesn’t break things either. The controls are standard, and the raccoon has no unique abilities other than jumping, running and pole climbing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2628618663 Well, running is more like a dash forward because it’s almost impossible to turn. So when you chase something, you need to let go of the button, turn, and then press the dash button again. Climbing has its own set of problems. Poles, trees, and pipes can all be climbed, although the raccoon will occasionally refuse to grip onto the lines and wires that connect them. If you're not properly aligned, the raccoon will simply pass through the wire. The game starts in a small main hub from where you select stages that are unlocked in mostly linear fashion. The hub extends as you accomplish stages, which is a lovely touch. You begin in a city, travel through a forest, stop in a Halloween scene, and finally arrive at the games. The first and last worlds are superior to the second and third; the forest is too barren, and Halloween is just too dark for my tastes. Because light doesn’t bounce off gems, it’s very hard to spot them in those levels. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2628616876 The goal in each stage is to locate a chest that can help you defeat the evil witch. You have the option of dashing to the chest or exploring for secondary objectives such as gathering gems and completing challenges for gold stars. These are simple challenges that take less than a minute to complete. Because some of them are hidden, you'll have to pay close attention to anything that stands out in each stage or carefully read what the animals want from you. Because Roxy only has one health, the stages are densely packed with checkpoints. They’re quite generous and you never feel that you’ve lost progress due to a miscalculated jump. However, this can be quite frustrating during challenges, especially racing, where a single crash forces you to restart. Few stages also contain enemies that you need to avoid because Roxy can’t fight or outrun them. To avoid them, you need to hide in tall grass or walk right behind the enemy. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2628615047 Hats and dyes for the raccoon are included as a bonus in the game. This is purely for cosmetic reasons and doesn’t affect the game. What I would like is some kind of compass or an arrow pointing to the gems. Now I have two stages that I’ve searched entirely and still couldn’t find that one missing gem. Update: after telling this to the developer, they changed the placement and I was able to find them. For achievement hunters like myself, none of the achievements are missable. In case you missed something, you can always go back during normal gameplay or after finishing the game. A nice list shows all the levels and marks if you collected all gems, stars and hats. But this can be deceiving. Until the end I thought that some levels don’t contain hats because the mark was slightly to the right. It turns out all levels have a hidden hat, even the hub and boss levels! -`ˏ ♡ What an adventure I had playing as a cute raccoon! I always enjoy 3D platformers with all things revolving around collectibles. Very Spyro-like inspired gameplay which kept me intrigued. Every world has different tasks & mini games you complete and there's adorable hidden hats throughout every level tooooo. I snagged this game on sale for $2.49 & seriously loved every single second of gameplay! If you're a hardcore achievement hunter like I am, this is an amazing game to grind! ❀ I actually experienced a rare circumstance where I would go back to the overworld hub after I 100% a level and it would spawn me underneath it making me fall down continuously & restart as if I was dying or fell off the map. Just an endless loop of this, couldn't progress in the story at all. I contacted the developer via forums hoping I could get a response. Gave them the rundown & they quickly fixed the problem to where I could continue my gameplay! As an avid achievement hunter, this was superrrr special to me that a developer was eager to help me with my problem & resolved it in a quick time frame. They care about their fanbase and are extremely kind in the discussions forums ♡ˎˊ˗
I just got around to picking this one up and wow what a cute gem of a game (pun intended)! It has a lot of charm and a really warm atmosphere wrapped up in every corner, would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a very chill game that may even help you unwind and relax. If you think the trailer looks even somewhat interesting I would recommend picking it up, especially if you are looking for a game that has a lot of different styles of gameplay mechanics.
very fun game. got many screenshots of cute raccoon. definitely recommend!
To be fair, I didn't play the game for very long. But I got bored REAL quick.
Unassuming low-poly environments hide a surprisingly wonderful and charming 3D platformer. You get to run around a city, spooky forests, life-size board games, you name it. And the gameplay is surprisingly varied! There's collectathon elements, stealth, timed races, some precise leaps, even boss fights - all as a raccoon that can only climb trees and dash (in a very cursed way). You can also customize your appearance with a lot of options! Definitely a hidden gem among 3D platformers, but it doesn't deserve to be that way forever.
