Have you ever wondered what it would be like to operate alone, unaided, and unafraid as a solitary Opossum in a large forest as larger animal dynasties vie for power, and control? Have you wondered it might be like to foment an insurrection as a scrappy collective of critters (Woodland Alliance), openly protesting the occupation of the forest by furscist regimes? Well, in Root, and this incredible adaptation of the stellar boardgame, you can find that out! The art, music, and gameplay are all superb, and you don't have to fiddle about the rules, as this digital version really streamlines the experience. Each faction feels incredibly distinct, with their themes really shining through, and each play style being unique. It's obvious that a lot of love went into the boardgame, and in this digital adaptation. I highly recommend for fans of woodland critters, COIN boardgames, boardgames in general, and for EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN MARSUPIAL CHAD OUT THERE.
4 / 5 stars. Root is a top tier game in it's genre. The game appears cozy but its a full blown war game. Factions play differently -- each one has their own rules, scorning mechanics, and play style. Once you understand a faction or two then the rest are easy to pick up and play. The learning curve is somewhat high but worth the investment.

Great video game port of a great board game. Simple as that The multiplayer is definitely rife with annoying issues (not being able to change settings IN the waiting room and there's a lot of desyncs AND no steam invite integration is... annoying) but apart from that it gives an applicable way to play Root single player as well as letting people learn factions as they go. But Multiplayer DLC sharing is a nice touch (if you use draft mode ofc) Good game.
