Take control of the protagonist Romeo Stargazer in this third person singleplayer action adventure, split into various chapters. His story is both unpredictable and littered with intense battles, interspersed with side missions to suit the player's pace.
A story that transcends space-time
This game's story starts with space-time itself being shattered by a certain incident. Romeo, too, on the brink of life and death finds himself revived by a new kind of super technology. Thus he is recruited for the FBI's Space-Time Police as a special agent, and wanders the cosmos in search of criminals who've taken advantage of the situation at hand in an attempt to bring justice back to the universe. At the same time, he looks for clues concerning his missing girlfriend Juliet, and quickly comes to find both her disappearance and the destruction of space may be more linked than he thought. Donning the mask called Deadgear, what awaits Romeo at the edges of space-time?
Fight blood with blood
Romeo switches between swords and guns to fight. Wipe out the waves of enemies that stand in your path to give birth to a new kind of bloody action, and take down the fearsome space-time criminals that await. Absorb the blood of your enemies to unleash Romeo's special attack: Bloody Summer, capable of turning any situation around. Romeo's various weapons can be strengthened and altered as the story moves forward as he takes on even stronger enemies.

Suda doesn’t really do "polished" or "mainstream," but his stuff is so unhinged it just burrows into your skull. You’re left wondering what kind of fever dream he had to have to actually build some of this.

Not my favourite Grasshopper game, but it definitely has all the expected things goings for it in terms of style, music, story, characters, etc. So, if you like anything directed by Suda51, you would probably like this one too. However, in my case, the setting didn't really do it for me and I felt like the game lacked some of those really charming memorable moments you might get in No More Heroes or Killer is Dead, for example. Or maybe I'm just getting too used to the Grasshopper formula. Who's to say? Ultimately, I still recommend this game, if anything just for the many and diverse art styles the game has and the satisfying (enough) though sometimes frustrating gameplay.

I was apprehensive to play this game after NMH3. I was so sure Suda was washed and there was no coming back. After being sold to it by friends, I took the dive. Grasshopper is back, baby. This game rules and it's really fun to play. Many years of slow-paced action rpgs and a boy forgets the simple pleasures of a hack 'n slash action game. NMH3 was so disappointing; no other weapons, boring special abilities, just arenas and mini-games. Romeo leans more Killer is Dead, Romeo has access to several melee weapons and guns which lead into fun combos and special moves plus the Bastards. The game is complemented by a soundtrack full of ear worms and satisfying sound effects. The plot I was following and I wish I could comment on more but at some point I lost the thread, a common aspect of Suda games. Game is fun and I'm happy about that, I hope Grasshopper can make a smaller adventure game like killer7 or Silver Case in the future.
Only 2hrs in - thus far? Fun, memorable and action combat gameplay, The music is hi level choreography. Beautiful.
