About
About ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN
Take control of the protagonist Romeo Stargazer in this third person singleplayer action adventure, split into various chapters. His story is both unpredictable and littered with intense battles, interspersed with side missions to suit the player's pace.
A story that transcends space-time
This game's story starts with space-time itself being shattered by a certain incident. Romeo, too, on the brink of life and death finds himself revived by a new kind of super technology. Thus he is recruited for the FBI's Space-Time Police as a special agent, and wanders the cosmos in search of criminals who've taken advantage of the situation at hand in an attempt to bring justice back to the universe. At the same time, he looks for clues concerning his missing girlfriend Juliet, and quickly comes to find both her disappearance and the destruction of space may be more linked than he thought. Donning the mask called Deadgear, what awaits Romeo at the edges of space-time?
Fight blood with blood
Romeo switches between swords and guns to fight. Wipe out the waves of enemies that stand in your path to give birth to a new kind of bloody action, and take down the fearsome space-time criminals that await. Absorb the blood of your enemies to unleash Romeo's special attack: Bloody Summer, capable of turning any situation around. Romeo's various weapons can be strengthened and altered as the story moves forward as he takes on even stronger enemies.

If it wasn't for the fact that I know Suda51 did not grow up in a small town in the rust belt, I could be convinced otherwise. Nothing is more Central Pennsylvanian than never leaving your small dying town (even when hopping through space and time) AND never getting over your first crush. In the most endearing way, the story does not pull any punches with how over-the-top and wacky it can get. The core gameplay and aesthetics are amazing and the systems locked behind minigames never felt unwelcomed. I had to tweak some settings to get a smooth framerate but after that I did not have anything issues with my playthrough. This game is definitely now in my PA hall of fame along with Left 4 Dead, Night in the Woods, and Dusk.
Performance is atrocious. Constant stuttering and fps dips in what's supposed to be a hack and slash is wild. Looking forward to giving this game a fair shake once fixed, hopefully patches are on the way cause as is, this ♥♥♥♥ ain't it.

I'm a dih man!
This game was absolutely trippy from head to toe, definitely Suda at his most unhinged, and I love it for exactly that. The combat is an evolution to No More Heroes 3 with its Bastard System, which is great because I loved No More Heroes 3. I found all the characters to be endearing, most of all Benjamin Stargazer. I always love when David Bowie gets immortalized. I just wonder if this is the direction Grasshopper games are gonna go moving forward, because right now anything is possible. Either way, I'm here for whatever that guy does next.
Nobody else makes games like this. Romeo is unadulterated creativity. It's raw. It's fun. It's serotonin for my brain.
An insane, psychotic adventure. The main themes of this story are delivered well, but the structure of this game feels utterly schizophrenic at times. Characters don't stick except well Romeo and Juliet, i guess the story was about them after all, but still the cast feels wasted. on the gameplay side this game adopts a dated game philosophy and once it stops innovating itself it becomes repetitive rather quickly. That said this game feels really good to play the tension generated from having to plan out your strikes and being forced to constantly switch to ranged weapons to take care of certain enemies does make up for a good gameplay loop. Then the game sort of starts throwing at you waves of really annoying enemies and while each one has its own solution, i can't help but feel like if there were a bit more options for combat or a bit more enemy variety the game would've been way more fun. Perfomance is horrible and choosing UE5 as the engine for this game definitely ruined some of it, seen as not only the game looks rather generic in its hack and slash section, but also lags horribly in certain sections even after the fixes released. I am a bit disappointed, but maybe i had my expectations too high, this game is very much so a love letter to grasshopper's past and the creativity and passion put behind it definitely show that the spirit of grasshopper is not dead. While this may easily be seen as a continuation of their release of hack and slash games, this game still goes out of the way to be clunky, weird and still deliver a (at least artistically) beautiful experience. KILL THE PAST.
Sólido 8/10. Nunca supe hacer el verano sangriento.
Romeo Is A Dead Man is a hack 'n slash, action adventure game w/ a story that was made by someone smoking weed laced w/ crack and fentanyl. Game is off the wall and trippy AF. This is my first ever Suda 51 game and I must say: HE'S AN ABSOLUTE MAD LAD.
Lo único malo que tiene es que está hecho en UE5
I 100% the game, it is most like a suda51 game, and oozes with all different art styles. Do play the game, a fair warning to those just checking the reviews before buying there is no parry function in the combat of Romeo is a Deadman. (if you have a problem with that) - Not to mention for lower end devices your frames may drop, as this game lacks optimization specifically in the puzzle part of the game. (Subspace) You mostly depend on movement and shear damage, and this game has a mix of combat from most suda51 games. (Shadows of the Damned and No More Heroes 3)
