This game is strictly ruler play only. Some of the game mechanic can be quite old, with dated 3D visual. This is the old school. Nonetheless, if you're looking for the best ruler play, ROTX XI is the best one to go for. The hot-seat multiplayer up to 8 people with your friends dominating ancient china is pretty fun. I suggest wait until Koei let out the sell, then grab it. This is a game you can sink countless hours into. Very recommended. 个人感觉最经典的三国志系列之一

EDITED: I've had to re-edit my review. I downloaded the english mod for this, and didn't realize how much it changed the music, portraits, and maps (and not for the better). There is not a good english mod for this. So until there is one, or you are fluent in mandarin, I cannot recommend this version. Fortunately, I have an old digital copy of the original english release (without the PUK). If koei updates this for english, I will gladly change my review. Because ROTK XI is the best game of the entire series, by far.
