Amazing game with a banger soundtrack! Also a fun challenge to try and go for all achievements, at the moment of writing this I got 17 out of 21. Luckily there aren't lots of achievements, cuz the game is pretty short too. but DONT BUY THE GAME! The dev team have been defunct and all money goes to greedy publishers
Rollerdrome, where skating meets Hotline Miami
Disclaimer: While I do recommend this game, I also recommend finding an "Alterinative" way of getting it since the developers won't see a buck of your hard earned money. Rollerdrome is a gem, a laser focused arcade experience for fans of skating but arena shooters alike. Beautiful artstyle which makes (almost) everything stand out at a glance. Each level is carefully crafted to be as replayable and fun to play as possible and definitely very fun to master and as all arcade games, it comes with tons of replayability from score attacking but also a "hard" version of the campaign which mixes up the enemy spawns. With no failure state besides dying from enemies, focusing on tricks to refill ammo and multiply youur score and also most guns not having a strict aiming requirement (autoaim), only timing, the game reinforces a certain playstyle which you can take your time mastering. Keep moving or die! and stay as stylish as possible while doing it. The music, while it doesn't reach the great heights of the aforementioned Hotline Miami, it still elevates the experience substantially and the cherry on the top is the story. It's nothing crazy, in between stages of the tournament you get to explore the dressing room which has tons of lore tidbits sprinkled throughout. You can go through them at your own pace and piece it together or ignore it completely. Exiting the dressing room to the stage with a smooth as ice transition, this game oozes presentation. It's as close to perfect as it gets, if I had to criticize something though, the non-bulky enemies are hard to tell apart at a distance, due to the color pallete and artstyle blending them in together and I personally am not a fan of the railgun, which actually requires aiming (while having to ALSO charge it), which goes against every other established mechanic in the game. Definitely one of the most unique experiences in the recent gaming landscape. My Playthrough of the game here. Roll7 have created a masterpiece that will now forever be used to line the pockets of a piece of ♥♥♥♥ company that shut them down. I love this game so much and it, and it's developers, deserved SO much better. ♥♥♥♥ 2K.
I'm not really sure why this game received so much praise. It is just straight up not fun. You essentially need to play with a controller due to the way the character controls on her skates, so the aiming is performed with a Rockstar-esque lock on system. That is boring casual suckage. Only 11% of players finished this 5 hour long, easy AF game. That is an abysmal completion percentage for any game, and it is not hard to understand why; It is straight up bad.
This gameplay is SMOOTH the fps is SMOOTH the textures are SMOOTH and the music is GROOVY I'm leaving a positive review in remembrance of Roll7 You can very epically pirate it knowing you wont be harming any dev wallets seeing as theyre all laid off.
Flawed but very, very fun game. ♥♥♥♥ 2k for shutting down Roll7.
A solidly fun game with great mechanics, makes me wish I was better at this game to fully enjoy it!
I'll revisit it sometime but this first half hour has been such an unbelievable drag for me. I feel like something can be there. But there's limited tricks you can actually do, slow enemy spawns, levels feeling padded out and non-action packed. I'm confident it gets better, but it's first impressions are very poor.
Rollerdrome feels like someone took roller skating, a futuristic game show, and an action movie, threw them into a blender, and somehow created something awesome. The first few matches had me skating around wondering what was going on. Then everything clicked, and suddenly I was chaining tricks, dodging bullets, and taking out enemies while feeling way cooler than I had any right to. What I love most is how the game rewards style. You don’t just survive—you survive with flair. Pull off tricks, keep your combo going, and you’ll feel like you’re starring in your own over-the-top action montage. The cel-shaded art style looks fantastic, the gameplay is smooth, and every arena turns into a fast-paced dance between “I’m unstoppable” and “oh no, there’s a rocket coming my way.”
I don't know what I expected. I bought a cheap key a long time ago and just started playing this. I really liked the aesthetic and the concept, inspired by fictional future sports appearing in older sci-fi movies. The game is simply driving/shooting around an arena and racking up points. There's nothing more. The only hint of plot in the first twenty minutes is learning the name of the main character (Kara Hassan) and learning that the first tournament is taking place in London in 2030. I just rolled my eyes and thought, "That's right."
