My gambling addict friend said if I post a review on Roles & Dice and it gets 350 likes and 150 Awards that he will buy me a case of beer and some vodka . So I'm just gonna leave this here.

Simple yet powerful, characters are bare bones (HP/movement/dark vision ranges) but can have any token your heart desires along with a map with or without a grid system attached. The bare bones structure gives much more freedom to use Pathfinder, DnD 5e, and dare I say...other TTRPG's (Shadow Run and Cyberpunk Red) Capable of hosting and having other players through an invite link. The use of adding walls helps with token line of sight and physical barriers for your players and NPCs. there is a combat mode and exploration mode too for maps and players. For being a free VTT, this is extremely well thought out and powerful despite being such a small size and such minimalistic CPU/GPU/memory requirements. The UI is pretty intuitive as well! If you're a GM/DM that already does a good job keeping record of things in the campaign, this VTT is right up your alley and will be a perfect match for you.
Warning: In-Game Cash Shop This app is infested with a toxic mobile app style cash shop. You will be prompted to and expected to give money/credit card details to the developers through this cash shop to buy in-game goods so you can use the software.
Roles & Dice is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. Instead of being a game, Roles & Dice is a software application that competes with actually professionally made tabletop emulators like Roll20, only this is so much worse, features what look like almost certainly plagiarised/stolen character art, and is infested with toxic mobile app cash shop microtransactions. Disgustingly the developer of this app advertises it as a "free game", when it's not a game and it's not free. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. There's no loop here, no true interactive feedback. It simply is not a game, it cannot be "played". This has misleadingly been launched in the "Games" section of Steam instead of the "Software" section. This is a common mistake for developers who are new to Steam, or don't understand the difference between games and software which isn't a game. It seems this software published incorrectly as a game is simply lack of experience/knowledge of the correct process. Here's a link for the process to publish non-game software on Steam: Steam Developer Help With Software Publishing It's unfortunate this process was not known about/followed, resulting in a software application being published in the wrong place. Publishing things which aren't games on Steam in the Games section as games is misleading to gamers and somewhat harmful, because it pollutes the Steam marketplace and takes away visibility and market exposure for genuine game developers who do the right thing and make games for gamers. There are no gameplay loops in this software, no "gameplay", no meaningful game like interaction. It's a software application and as such has no merits as a video game for gamers. Because of this, I cannot recommend this non-game software as a game to gamers.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developers sheer dishonesty is galling. Breach of Valve guidelines to shove two direct lies at gamers. First, before we break down the BS from this failed developer, let's point out this is failed, garbage software nobody wanted. SteamDB shows absolutely ZERO users at any given time, with just a handful of people every month "trying it out" then kicking it to the curb. Now onto the lies. The Steam page clearly denotes in-app purchases for this application. Valve doesn't make that decision, this is something the "developer" selects as part of their obligation to warn gamers when a product has a disgusting cash shop. The developer here wants you to believe he was lying to you when he told everyone this has in-app purchases? Ignore whatever BS this "developer" is pushing with their lies here: Either this has a cash shop and is lying in this response, or it doesn't, and he set out to lie to and mislead gamers on the store page. Now we've already established the developer is a liar, it's impossible for both of the above points to be true at the same time. Now take a look at all that character art, looks like it's straight out captured from a game manual or something. You think a developer this incompetent created all that art? I have a bridge to sell you. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this garbage failed sofware from a now proven dishonest, failed developer to anyone.
I am so sad! I really wanted to play D&D with my friends and we had faith in this little game, too bad many of the features are not available unless you are a GM... as a player, I can't see my picture or the other players'. Our GM wanted to play music and it couldn't be heard either. The dice rolls look gigantic on the screen. Also, the map display also crashed. It's a shame because I know how difficult it can be to develop a game, no matter how simple it may seem. I'd like you to keep it up so I can play it properly one day!

needs polished and would be useable 100%, moving a token makes the game drop to like 3 frames, certain things arent clear enough on how to use, creating a token for a player while theyre in your lobby also doesnt work as they would need to leave and rejoin to play.
Looks really promizing !!! Keep up the good work ! Edit : too bad there a no further update so far...
