Feels like a weekend attempt at a VR movie. Poor execution over all. VR filmmaking should put you inside the action and make you feel like part of the story. The constant jumps and forced head turns quickly cause motion sickness and take you out of the film. As for the story- it's nothing special. I love Normal Reedus and Michelle Rodriguez, but this just wasn't good. The acting, cinematography, and the editing was bad - the whole experience was literally nauseating.
This is the more boring, more plot-stupid and less funny version of "Hardcore Henry". Rodriguezes! You can do better! I know you can! Still will give it a "positive" mark, just to encourage them continue do these VR things.
The only reason I bought this was because I've yet to see a good example of VR video and I've been wondering if it was a limitation of the current tech or if I'd only seen poor examples of it. Since this was $5, it looked professional enough and it starred Michelle Rodriguez, I figured I'd check it out. As for the video quality, it's one of the best examples of 180 video in VR I've seen so far but it's still not good enough to convince me the tech is adequate for VR video. It's like 80% there. I would still rather watch a 3D rendered VR movie than a full-motion VR video. The main reason I have to give this a negative rec, though, is because of the horrible videography. Way too much motion and odd angles make this a nauseating watch even though it's a brief 20 minute movie. For future VR directors, consider the following... DON'T - Bob the camera to simulate walking (barf) - Have fast motion camera sweeps/zooms (barf) - Motion blur (double barf when combined with the previous point) - Cut akwardly (barf, the viewer should be able to naturally look around) - Situate the camera too close to the actors (it makes them look larger than reality) As for the movie itself, Michelle Rodriguez + schlocky action is a good combo in my book. However, I don't have much to say about it since it's very brief and railroaded plus the nauseating camera work took me out of most of the action scenes.
unfortunately, the LIMIT in VR feels like really old VR technology. Recommend Jurassic World Blue and Apatosaurus or Blade Runner 2049: memory lab if you want to see and experience what VR movies can be. Even the peoples house was better with the president and first lady. Others are cirque du soleil.
Highly recommended. Not for the story, but for the quality. This is the first high quality VR short movie. Robert Rodriguez did it right. To devs: Please rerender the 3d version for more immersive 3d effect, because now is not too 3d, and make higher resolution than the current 2048x3400. And get the rid of the blue steamvr circle when i look down.
Thumb up only for Michelle Rodriguez and Norman Reedus. The Movie is ok, the technical implementation not. It's not a 360° Movie, it's just only 180°. If you look more to the right/left or behind you, then you see your virtual seat in the (really dark) virtual cinema. Sometimes the proportions are not right, sometimes the actors look bigger, sometimes smaller / thinner. The cuts are sometimes annoying, because they interrupt the flow. But on sale you can buy this movie, if you like both main actors :).
I had been looking forward to eventually trying out THE LIMIT: An Immersive Cinema Experience even before aquirring a VR headset. That notion was only reinforced by the fact it was made by film director Robert Rodriguez (Desperado, From dusk till dawn and Sin City) and starring Michelle Rodriguez (3 A.M and Machete) and Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead). Unfortunately this Cinema Experience wasnt really that immersive or for that matter well written or well acted, infact i would expect a hell of a lot more from this fairly talented team of artists. It lasts less than half an hour and was intended to be continued in atleast another movie and by now i would be surprised if that actually ever mounts to anything and i cant really say i will be disapointed if it doesnt happen. The movie is pretty much a flatscreen movie with no 360 view or interaction at all. Besides of that i got mildly dizzy by watching it. If you are a die hard fan of the before mentioned artists it might be worth picking up just for the heck of it but i cant really recommend it otherwise and would even then recommend buying it at a discount.
Meh, glad I got it for only a few dollars.. This seemed like nothing more than watching a 3D movie with an HMD strapped on. Not immersive at all. You are literally sitting in a theater watching a short 3D film. Not sure where the hype was coming from. No interaction, just sit and watch. Also as others have stated, the scale of the actors and sets are way off. If you haven't seen Allumette, The Great C or Age of Sail, do your self a favor and watch those first. Then you will undrstand the negative review here.
Video dosent work, attempted fixs. No luck.
