After 103.7 hours, I can confidently recommend Risk of Rain 2. Other people could probably explain the gameplay better than I can, because it is one of those games that makes perfect sense once you are actually playing it but is surprisingly difficult to describe. Every run feels different depending on which survivor you choose, which items you find, and how long you manage to stay alive. Each survivor has a distinct playstyle, and your choice can completely change the direction of a run. Even when using the same character repeatedly, the random item combinations keep things from feeling the same. I have spent a lot of my time playing with family and friends, which is where the game becomes especially fun. A normal run can quickly turn into complete chaos as everyone creates increasingly ridiculous builds and tries to survive whatever the game throws at them. It can be challenging and occasionally frustrating, especially when a promising run suddenly ends because the difficulty has scaled out of control. At the same time, that unpredictability is a major part of what makes it so replayable. There is always a reason to start another run and see what kind of build you end up creating. The music also deserves special attention. The soundtrack absolutely slaps. It sounds amazing, fits the atmosphere perfectly, and makes the larger fights feel even more intense. The OST is genuinely god tier and is easily one of the strongest parts of the entire game. Risk of Rain 2 is hard to explain, but very easy to enjoy once you start playing. After 103.7 hours with family and friends, I am still happy to jump into another run.
You can't win on monsoon, no matter your skill, if you don't get the right items you will always lose
