Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my gameplay & initial impressions here: https://youtu.be/dmtlt8ULp5A Do NOT buy this game. It is total garbage. It is an insult to any fan of the Dead Rising series. This hot mess of a game is a low-effort release on Steam. The developer does not deserve your support. This game is insulting to Dead Rising fans. It's poorly optimized. I was getting anywhere from 20-90 fps on my RTX 3080. There was hardly any gameplay. It has a shopping mall with what are probably free assets from the Unreal Engine asset store. The models are poor. The lighting is bad. The animations are awful. The sounds are often non-existant. There's no physics. It feels like all the melee weapons behave the same, as though you are swinging nothing in your hands. The guns are mediocre at best. Game is running on the Unreal Engine 4 and it has rarely looked worse than in this game. You do have full locomotion and smooth turning. There are no settings in this game other than select new, continue, or quit or main menu. You have to play standing, but even then the character model avatar is not correctly aligned to your body. If the developer is like 12 years old or younger, I may be able to forgive him or her for this poor effort. Otherwise, shame on them! Rate 2/10. I should refund this game, but I want my negative review to be a warning to everybody. You're just wasting $5 USD if you buy this.
If you enjoyed my review, please consider joining my Steam Curator Group. This is obviously a very prototype title. While I appreciate the concept of being the original classic: DeadRising and making a rip of VR version in the fabled zombie invested mall, this just isn’t it. All of the melee weapons are pretty much worthless. There is exactly one gun store and it’s where every gun in the game is lol. The survivors look very strange and their movement is pitiful. They put way to much work into the math of their boobs when you touch them. Wrong details guys.
Had this game for couple weeks when writing this review... I play it as if it was an arcade game: Stats are saved if you choose continue game but the ammo and other tools/weapons scattered around the mall reset. There is some humor in game and I would say Parental Consideration Recommended anyway due to the fact of guns and zombies. You do have to turn on a pointer using one of the buttons on the controller to interact with menus, however, this can also be used to pull the grab-able items towards your avatar (comes in handy sometimes). I have seen multiple updates in short time adding a few new weapons (hidden around the different hallways and stores), as well as optimizing the game and lighting changes. - ie. -- there is a graphics quality setting which is available on the whiteboard when you load in which was added since I first downloaded this. -- NPC AI (zombie and survivor): how they react to objects and path-find. For a handful of dollars this is an arcade experience which you can take life's stresses out on some zombies, reload the game and do it again without spending all your quarters. I am running on: AMD FX8350 with 24GB usable RAM, new PNY 3060 using Oculus Air Link with Quest 2 (which I have adjusted slightly using the Oculus debug tool and adjusting for my wifi under link dashboard). Prior to the 3060 I had 2 used 960s in SLI and was using Vridge software - struggled but it did run on the 960s (970 min for VR reqs).
