A great game. Kinda sad it was so short, was hoping for more complex shapes. Beat all of them on the first go B-) Definitely worth the few minutes it takes to play through.
Awesome game, look forward to seeing more updates.
This game was oddly satisfying and definitely rewarding!! For a quick play through I do recommend especially for completionists.
This game is pure fun. Speed run is fun too.
I enjoyed the game. I liked the idea of the game, and the game-play is really straightforward, you try to find a Eulerian path in the Eulerian graphs. You may also choose to do it in "time mode" to submit it to the leader boards. As of now, it is a really really short game (but there is a "coming soon", so I assume the game will eventually get longer), and took me about 8 minutes to finish. You could reply the game and try to beat other people times, but that's about it, once you remember the patterns the game won't have much reply value. Music was also nice to be honest. Achievements would be a fun addition. Maybe adding a level editor so users can submit their own ideas of a cool puzzle and other people will try to beat those, can add the much needed content. Other than that Its fine for a free game.
"Rise Of Enigmas" is an objectively failed browser/Flash tier set of mini puzzles. What do you do in the game? The puzzles are basic "touch all the pegs with a bit of string" line arrangement things... you get as much entertainment, if not more, from the puzzles at the back of the newspaper. It's no wonder this failed quite badly. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable, or something you might want to spend your time on. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer doesn't understand English well. This is fine, not everyone should be expected to. But to breach Valve guidelines in anger because of ones own failure to read or understand the review you're whining about is not okay. I quite clearly state that this failed garbage is "flash tier". This means (I can't believe I'm now giving English lessons to incompetent developers) that the game is of the same "tier" as a Flash game. It has all the same properties. Nobody gives a flying F if this crap was made with Adobe Flash or C++ or Turbo Pascal. What matters is that it's crap. But the developer doesn't really care about that because he's apparently got a serious case of "Main Character Syndrome". The developer demonstrates incredible arrogance and ignorance of the facts of law by insisting his EULA is legally binding; it is not. Why the developer pushes this kind of unenforceable BS to attempt to control gamers is unclear, but his legal ignorance is both laughable but concerning. The developer attacks the review by pushing the absolutely bogus claim that "2D graphics are fine in the era of 3D gaming". This isn't really true, in fact, when developers use 2D graphics when every single gaming PC in the world has a sophisticated 3D accelerator in it is an insult to the gaming industry. Making a 2D game in the era of 3D gaming (which, importantly, kicked off in the mid 1990's with the release of dedicated 3D hardware like the ATI Rage and the 3DFX Voodoo3) is a disservice to gamers. Ignorantly demanding that 3D graphics are worse is a bizarre and dishonest mental contortion. So why has the developer pushed this bizarre and incorrect narrative? He's defending his inadequacy. Almost always, when a 2D franchise becomes successful, the sequel games adopt 3D graphics. Because the developers, professional, successful developers, know what's better and what gamers want. Professional AAA publishers don't make 2D games. So the developer makes this perverse and wrong claim... because he personally is incapable of creating 3D visuals. Through lack of budget, or lack of skill or talent, is irrelevant. Because it doesn't matter why the developer did a bad job, what matters is the product that gamers have to evaluate. If he could have done better, he would have! But he didn't. But the developer never considered what's good for gamers, just himself. This disgusting attitude is made clear by his breach of Valve guidelines. This is beyond my opinion, take a look at the top 100 games on Steam and count how many are 2D... it's a statistically insignificant number, and that number, even if you demand it counts, includes cash grab NFT garbage like "banana". That's the developers argument, his 2D crap should be treated the same as banana because he can't do video games properly. This is beyond my opinion, also, because this is a failure. SteamDB does not lie. The facts don't lie. A peak player count of only 4 (very disappointed) people is a textbook definition of failure and incompetence, especially considering just how huge the audience on Steam is. The developer demands that consumers have no right to discuss the value that games have regardless of price point. What a bizarre and offensive position to take; telling people their opinion does not matter whenever price is concerned. But the developer attacks and insults me in the face of these unassailable facts. You can see the developers disgusting attitude on display here... it explains so much about why this product was a failure, but it excuses none of it. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.
