Alright. I've finished a run of the first dungeon in Right and Down, which actually took me a bit longer than anticipated. And I've done a few deep runs into Dungeon #2 as well. Along with trying out all four classes I have unlocked. I think for me, this is probably where I leave off. It's a really fun game with a very fun premise, but I also don't see myself sticking with it through the entire swath of dungeons despite its inherent charm and cool fusion of roguelike deckbuilder/digital boardgame gameplay. This was a game I picked up during this current Fanatical Bundlefest, and I think I got great value out of this game already, with almost five hours logged. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3427002405
How this game works is as follows:
Instead of you having a deck of cards, the cards are laid out on what amounts to a game board. Each card is essentially a node. However, all cards are also revealed. Your goal is to navigate your way through the board trying to get to the exit. You win when you complete the fiftieth level. Your default character is a warrior, but you will unlock other characters by meeting specific criterion for each. Each character has two unique abilities. You have basic hit point and armor points pools. The specific amount of each is dependent on the class you select. You will also find artifacts that can be purchased during runs by landing on them and having the requisite gold. You will also reach a camp after five levels in an area, where you will have the opportunity to somewhat heal and armor up, grab some extra gold, and in every other camp, use your acquired xp to choose and buy a new ability out of three available ones. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3426389051 Abilities are triggered by accomplishing movement sequences. Which, as the name of the game implies, is always a variation of down and right. Similarly, your movement through each level is also down and right. Deciding which will be largely determined by which of your abilities you want to use and the card layout of each level. Card types are enemies, gold, potions (mostly healing), armor, artifacts, and traps. Each card has a number attached. For enemy cards, that number is the damage it will deal when you land on it. Which is pulled from your armor first, and then HP if you run out of armor. For traps, it's the amount of turns an effect will remain in place. Which range from blindness to confusion to poison, burning, etc... The gold number is how many coins you earn when landing on it. For artifacts, it's the cost in gold. And with potions/armor, it's how much healing, armor, and occasionally another effect you will gain. You will also unlock new artifact cards as you progress, which will then have a chance of appearing on any given level. Artifacts might be just straight buffs, but they can also have a range of other abilities, such as healing when triggering certain traps, injuring enemies before battle and healing after battle, giving you extra gold under certain circumstances and so on. And, multiples of the same artifact do also stack, which is very useful. There is a variety of biomes you can play through, and each will last for five levels after which you will get a camp break and can then choose which of two biomes you'd like to run through next. Biomes include Forest, Volcano, Void, and Wasteland. A lot of artifacts you will find are keyed to specific biomes, which might shape your decision as far as which you choose to run through next. Each of course has their own unique enemies and traps as well. The card designs do look pretty cool and there is a nice variety of them. This was nicely done and keeps you from getting bored by seeing the exact same things over and over and over. I don't really remember much about the audio. It wasn't particularly noteworthy to me. And there is no story to speak of best I can tell. You simply keep adventuring through dungeons until you complete them all, but even then, there are also daily procedurally generated dungeons, so you technically will never run out of things to do if you love playing this game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3427002386 I thought this was the perfect game to grab in a bundle, and had it not been in the current Fanatical Bundlefest, I'm not sure I would have even heard of it, much less tried it. And I'm glad I did. It's a fun and focused game that knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to be something it's not. As I look at the $9.99 retail price, I'm left thinking that it is a fair price for the volume of content available and the overall experience. But of course, it is currently in a bundle and probably will be again. So that is the way to go if you aren't sure if you'll like it or not. I say give it a look. It's worth playing. I was on the fence about recommending this game. The entire time you are the mercy of RNG, but if you can lean into it and accept that restarting run early, if things don't go your way, is vital part of the game, then you start having fun. Two things to be aware of: 1. The biomes and characters are not very well balanced in my opinion, so you have to figure out for yourself what works. I recommend trying to unlock all the characters as soon as possible. 2. THERE IS NO OPTION TO SAVE! Runs are fairly quick, so it's not a huge deal breaker, but the game does not make it obvious and it's quite a shocker first time you quit the game in a middle and lose all of your progress.
we need google or apple ver.
Simpático jueguito con partidas rápidas 6/10 Nice little game with fast runs 6/10
Great game, it seems simple with just 2 moves but it is really deep thinking game.
It is an OK idler, but don't see the replay-ability. I have beaten the first dungeon, and don't feel like doing it again. It is just too simple, really.
Great dungeon crawler, just hard enough to keep you interested, but casual enough to not be too frustrating.
its a great casual and easy to understand game. I love how there are only 2 choices but a lot of strategy for just those choices.
