This game cured my cancer, fixed my neck pain, helped me find my left airpod, and turned off the check engine light in my 2009 Porsche 911.
I think a remaster would do this game very well. Unless you got a group of friends willing to play with you I can't recommend this because no one plays anymore.
you got this from the valve complete pack
I'm waiting for the second game Valve...
Ricochet (2000): A Digital Time Capsule If you find yourself browsing the Steam store and stumbling upon Ricochet, you are looking at one of Valve’s most bizarre, experimental artifacts. Released in 2000 as a GoldSrc mod turned standalone, it is a game that defies modern categorization—and perhaps that’s exactly why it has maintained a cult following for over 25 years. The Gameplay: Neon Gladiators Ricochet is a fast-paced, arcade-style arena fighter. You play as a character on a floating platform in space, armed with a disc that you throw at opponents to knock them off the map. * The Mechanics: It is fundamentally a game of physics and geometry. You can bounce discs off walls to hit opponents from angles they don't expect, and power-ups (like triple-shot or fast-shot) turn the game into a chaotic, high-speed projectile dance. * Verticality: If you miss your platform, you fall into the void. It’s "platforming" forced into a deathmatch setting, which makes for incredibly tense, high-stakes rounds. The "Ghost Town" Aesthetic As of July 2026, Ricochet is a museum piece. * Player Base: It is essentially a ghost town. You will rarely find more than a handful of servers, and those that are populated are often run by "die-hard" veterans who have been playing since the turn of the millennium. Entering a match feels like walking into a dimly lit, high-tech club where everyone knows each other except you. * The Vibe: There is something hauntingly "late-90s" about it. The bright, neon-on-black aesthetic, the minimalist "ping" sound effects, and the complete lack of a narrative create a uniquely eerie, lonely atmosphere that is unlike any modern game. The Verdict: Why play it? * It’s a Curiosity, not a Career: Do not expect a modern competitive experience. The movement is stiff by current standards, and the skill ceiling is impossibly steep because of the few experts who remain. * The "Clean Terminal" Appeal: If you appreciate the aesthetic of early 2000s tech—the kind of "clean" look you seem to be aiming for in your own digital branding—Ricochet is the visual archetype. It is pure, unfiltered, low-polygon design.
its fun but for a more formal and complete review i need to play it more
Interesting game, wish it had more players
Wowie Zowie Zowza! This sure was quite the dazzling experience! I spent hundreds of hours playing this EVERY day, and it really left a laSTING mark! Everything in this game flows together in perfect Harmony. A Stark contrast from any other game I played! Seriously, this was a major life changer!
