Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/1AnUlfoW8pc Is this a good VR drumming game? No, not even close. Is it worth it at the $3 USD sale price? Well, maybe, it depends on what you're looking for. Let me talk about the positives before I get into the brutal negatives. The biggest positive is that you can play any song from your PC sounds to the game and drum away. So yes, you can play YouTube songs and start drumming. The game has easy to insane difficulty. There are 4 drum pieces. You can play in-game songs from the dev or your own MP3s as well. Game ran fine and I didn't experience any serious issues or bugs. Okay, those were all the positive things I could think of. That may be worth $3 USD for some. However, make no mistake, this is a sub-standard VR drumming game. There's a ton of better VR drumming out there. Ragnarock puts this game to shame. Drums Hero VR (2017) looks like VR GOTY compared to this game. Paradiddle? LOL, makes this game look like hot garbage. The look & feel of the game are just not good. The UI is ugly. The map is ugly (music stage). The drumming mechanics are out-dated (there were much better options in 2017 VR). Rate 4.5/10. Close call, but I just can't recommend this game. I was being too generous by even giving it a neutral recommendation.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. Disclaimer: I've received this game for free via Curator Connect. Rhythm & Beats is an awful version of Ragnarock with one additional gimmick - auto-generation of beatmaps for any desktop music/sound on the fly. It works as poorly as everything else in this game. The gameplay here is the least satisfying among all VR rhythm games. Hitting a note has no impact on the soundscape, there is no audio feedback. And the beatmaps are insanely boring, lack any noticeable patterns and have seemingly nothing in common with the music, they were based on (this is even more apparent for dynamically created maps). So playing the game feels like you just randomly swing your arms, while unrelated songs are playing in the background. In addition to this, the game looks terrible: from UI to colors and post-processing. Works on Reverb G2 with native OpenXR
