best sim game if you want to dive back into fall of 1990 but better. played for 3hr and i am addictited to it. the only thing i would like to see is being able to put new release posters or advertisments outside of the store. But overall, great game and i hope to see it come to be a great game for everyone not that it already is but great invention.
Great fun game, but a little tedious when going for all achievements as the game kind of hard-limits you to earning a certain amount each day, its rare to break $700, and after buying movie bundles and shelves to store them on, it's hard to save enough to buy shop expansions. Staff could do with some improvements, their current speed is painfully slow and i'd find myself often jumping in their place just to get a day finished, which kind of defeats the purpose. I also have issue with the movie bundles, i'd much prefer permanent bundles for each genre, there's nothing more tedious than waiting literally weeks just to pad out a certain genre of movies. Overall, I did really enjoy this game and managed to sink nearly 50 hours before getting all achievements. Bonus points for allowing us to play our own movies on the in-game Tv's, that really adds to the vibes. I would like to continue expanding my collection but don't think I have another 50 hours in me just to wait for the right bundles yo crop up. Maybe it's worth a modded playthrough after completing vanilla, we shall see. This game is worth your time and money. Less than £17 for 50 hours is good value in my eyes.
Just buy it already
"Be kind, please rewind" Cozy millennial simulator. Takes me back to better times.
I didn't expect to be having this much fun with a video rental store simulator. This game had me stressed at first between returns, phone calls, customers, restocking, and checking out, but after hiring my first employee, things got significantly easier. A lot of the mechanics were things that I didn't find tedious, but really fun instead. Like breaking my movie? I'm frustrated. You don't wanna pay? I don't care if you threaten to not come back. A lot of love went into making this game and it really comes through. I really hope a multiplayer option is released in the future. The developers seem to be interested in releasing new content as they are adding new things fairly regularly and even taking player opinion into consideration!
excelente game muito bem feito e nostálgico
Good Game, nice experience :D
This game is amazing for what it is. I've had a ton of fun playing this game and designing my video store. running around helping guests while laughing at the majority of the VHS titles. I do hope they bring more decorations/placeable objects, along with possible game console rentals in the future but had lots of fun with what was there already, keeping me busy overall. definitely one of the best video rental sims I have ever played.
A fun little management and simulation game that appeals to the nostalgia of anyone old enough to have frequented the dingy video stores of the 90's. Unfortunately the underlying simulation left me feeling disappointed. A fairly simple game. You play the role of a independent video rental store manager in the early 90's. You engage in a loop of renting video tapes to customers, using the cash to buy more tapes etc. The day to day gameplay is engaging enough. You quickly find a rhythm and the games pace is slow enough that you rarely feel overwhelmed, yet quick enough that you nearly always have something to do. The game deal out unlocks and seasonal events at a quick pace adding variety to the day to day, a much needed mechanic in the later hours as the gameplay begins to grow stale. Unfortunately Retro Rewind, while charming and brimming with potential, has too many flaws to recommend. The underlining simulation is baffling simple. Tapes have only a handful of traits meaning that there is little to distinguish them. Seasonal events mean specific genre become more popular with your customers. But that means little as all tapes rent for the same price and customers will always rent when in your store anyway. And one of the biggest let downs is your inability to change prices on anything. All good have a fixed price, set by the game. This means the game just boils down to quantity and discourages specialisation or creativity. Ultimately Retro Rewind left me disappointed. There's promise and potential for a fulfilling and cosy little management game here, and if this was an early access game I would be a lot more lenient. But as a full release there’s little reason to engage and the last 10 hours I put in to the game to get all the achievements felt as much of a chore as the extinct job it is simulating. The developers have promised continued support, so this title might be worth checking on in a year or so, but as of right now I can't recommend this title.
