Prices

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 18.71/day in the week to Aug 7 → 26.43/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Приятный симулятор для медитативного геймплея с атмосферой ностальгии. Процесс затягивает, но быстро становится рутинным.
fun
The game is easy to play, easy to understand and even one if not the most fun simulator i have played yet. The only complaint i would give is that i dont like that i can not adjust pricing, but besides that its a fun game.

One of my top 5 shop sims. You can mostly set up the store the way you want. You get an employee at that perfect spot where you're starting to get too busy for one person. You can customize what plays on the TVs. The flow of the checkout and returns is (SO IMPORTANT) smooth. And the titles are a scream, especially if you are a movie buff (Also the customers have an Easter Egg or two wandering around). This is just all around fun. If i had ONE complaint, I wish there were more decorating options. The shelves, the carpet, and the walls just need more. I dunno, I feel restricted there more than any other part of the game. Outside of that, 9/10 game, easily. Great work!
Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator
Recommended, but it needs more variety and deeper management options. Retro Rewind makes a great first impression. The presentation is polished, the tutorial is clear, and running your own video rental store is genuinely entertaining during the first several hours. However, once you settle into the routine and hire an employee, the lack of variety and deeper customization starts to become noticeable.
The Good
Excellent visuals and attention to detail The graphics, models, textures, and material work look very nicely done. There is a lot of detail throughout the store, and the overall presentation feels polished. Even the sign above your business looks great. Visually, this is easily one of my favorite things about the game. A clear and helpful tutorial The opening tutorial does a very good job of explaining what to do and how everything works. The instructions are straightforward and easy to follow, making it comfortable to jump in and start running the store without feeling lost. An entertaining early gameplay loop For the first several hours, there is a satisfying amount of activity. You are checking returns, working the register, putting movies back on the shelves, and keeping the business moving. Switching between these responsibilities keeps you occupied and makes the early experience enjoyable. A little extra atmosphere The dark alley adds a small sense of mystery and excitement outside the normal store routine. It is a nice idea that gives the game some extra personality, although I think it could offer much more.
The Bad
The alley feels underdeveloped From my experience, the main benefit of visiting the alley seems to be buying movies at lower prices. Beyond that, its purpose feels limited. I would like to inspect the movies or see useful information about their demand, rarity, or potential value before buying them. Finding a limited-edition cover, an out-of-print movie, or another genuinely collectible item would make these visits much more interesting. As it stands, the alley creates a little excitement, but I do not feel there is enough behind it. Some employee behavior does not make much sense Employees sometimes arrive at work and then head into the back room because they are sick or vomiting. From a realism standpoint, I would expect someone that unwell to call in sick rather than come to work. Employees also fall asleep while the store is busy. I understand that supervising staff gives the player another responsibility, but this feels more frustrating than engaging. Dozing off during a very quiet shift would be more understandable than sleeping while customers need service. Staff management needs more depth Having an employee handle the register, concessions, and other duties is helpful. However, I would like more ways to develop and manage that employee rather than mainly checking whether they are doing their job. Training staff to become faster and more efficient, setting wages, promoting an employee to manager, expanding the team, and having disciplinary options would make the management side much more interesting. Those features would give the player additional goals beyond completing the same daily tasks. Limited control over the business I did not find the level of pricing freedom I was hoping for. I would like more control over rental prices and the option to sell movies from the store’s inventory, not just rent them out. That would create more opportunities to make business decisions and choose how to earn a profit. The store sign is another example: it looks very detailed, but I would like more creative freedom over its design. The presentation is strong; the ability to make the business feel truly my own is where I wanted more. Some carrying limits feel inconsistent One small detail that stood out to me is being able to carry ten movies but only five advertising flyers. That restriction feels odd, considering flyers should be much easier to carry. It is not a major problem, but it makes advertising feel more limited than necessary. The routine becomes repetitive This is my biggest criticism. Once an employee takes over some of the other duties, much of my time becomes collecting returns, carrying movies, putting them back on the shelves, and repeating the process. Repetition is expected in a simulator, but I would like more decisions, progression, and customization to keep that routine interesting. The opening hours are enjoyable; the longer-term experience needs more to work toward.
Final Verdict
I recommend Retro Rewind, but with some reservations. It is a visually polished and enjoyable game with a strong introduction and a satisfying early experience. My main issue is not how it looks or how clearly it explains itself—it is the limited depth once the daily routine is established. It can certainly keep you entertained, but I think the repetition could start wearing thin after a day or two, depending on how much you enjoy the core tasks. Before buying, I recommend watching several episodes of a YouTube playthrough rather than judging it only by the trailer or the first episode. Seeing what players are doing after they hire staff will give you a better idea of whether the longer-term gameplay appeals to you. Overall, it is a good game. I would just like to see more variety, more business-management options, and more freedom to make the store my own.
Great game, very fun. Wish it was co-op however is fun alone regardless. The only thing I dislike that becomes too repetitive is, the morning movie returns; there's so many movies and you're limited to only a few you can hold at a time. its a lot of running back and forth and takes forever, and if you leave it up to the employee it takes forever even if u have that "fast" return station employee.
this game is really good and actually original since you rent things instead of selling them, and not only the loop but also the graphic style isn't like the others cus it doesn't over use free or cheap bought assets from unity and stuff. only problem i have with it is the randomly generated film cover/tittle, some of them make no sense and/or are horendus. also you can't change prices, and the clearing bin is mostly useless most of the time. overhaul, love the look : 9/10
I first got into this game when I watched SnowyBlizzard play it, and I have not been able to stop playing! I love the way you can unlock new genres of movies, and the visual style of the game is so appealing! Plus, the complete lack of AI in the game is like a cherry on top lol
DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review
Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator is a game developed and published by Blood Pact Studios The game offers some nice graphics and a great aesthetic which is pleasant all the same and has some amazing attention to detail Retro Rewind - Video Store Simulator overall, however, is a simple yet oddly satisfying game to play and is a great simulation to play as long as you like!
RECOMMENDED :)
[i] THEPCGAMER'S BEST GAME IN STEAM LIBRARY! (What's this? :- Like some games get "Best Game of 2014" or "Best Indie Game", etc... So I have decided to make my own!)
