Alles in allem ein sehr schönes Puzzlespiel. Durch die Musik war das Spiel sehr entspannend, fast schon meditativ. So macht puzzeln Spaß!
Maybe this game ran in 2017, but I'm afraid it can't in 2024. First you'll have to set launch parameters to have the game at least opening on Windows 11, but ok. Then cubes will only randomly accept being activated, even if they've been activated seconds before, and after a while, nope, not a single will activate ever. Bugs, very bad tutorial, both, I can't tell. Paid 0.99€ but went for a refund anyway, that were 15 miserable minutes of gameplay.
As far as puzzles go, this game is pretty good. Its somewhat short with 38 levels, but the puzzles have very good solutions that feel satisfying to find. Graphics look very clean, music is pretty nice. The story feels like they got a 3-year old child to justify anything in the game. Calling it a story would be an insult, as its literally two sentences long, but oh well. Its not like power puzzlers care much about it. 8/10 puzzles, 7/10 overall. Get while on discount.
I had to turn down my graphics settings to low for the lasers to work properly. And if you have red-green colorblindness (like me) then some of the puzzles will be more difficult. If I continue with the series, I'll use the enhanced editions, which I didn't know about before starting this one.
cannot interact with anything. the Discusson tab on steam tells me this is a common problem. probably avoid wasting 1 Euro or Dollar on it.

ReThink
ReThink is like Portal but without the portals, cubes, turrets, buttons, gel or witty story, So let's recap: It's just the lasers. Of course i'm joking, the laser puzzles here are much different to portal's, you must direct lasers from their origin to a number of end goals while splitting and refracting them into various colours, it's a lot more thinking than i was expecting so the name checks out because I sure as hell was ReThinking the same puzzles over and over before caving and looking at the guide. I'm mixed on ReThink, on one hand it's a really difficult puzzle game with good puzzle design perfect for if you are looking for something to give you a challenge, on the other hand it feels like if you can't figure out a puzzle in the first few minutes it boils down to trial and error, there is a cool idea where multiple puzzle rooms are set up to help you with a future puzzle but because of alternate solutions you are forced to backtrack and re-do them, these along with a few bugs and the half-assed attempt at a "story" kind of brought it down for me. It's not a bad game I'd just recommend buying on sale over full price.
Gameplay
The gameplay boils down to directing coloured lasers into set end goals with limited laser redirectors per stage, you are given the exact number needed with not many alternate solutions, you also need direct different lasers together to create new colours. It's expanded on a little by introducing the ability to split lasers in 2, then later refracting a laser into multiple colours, this is really where the difficulty ramps up because there are so many possible areas to place lasers that it ends up becoming trial and error. There is an attempt at a story with you being a prisoner that has to do puzzles to be allowed to leave, but it's ruined by the fact that it's simply just a few lines of text, I wasn't expecting much but at the end it pops on screen something along the lines of "You didn't think you'd get to leave that easily did you?" before just ending, I didn't even realise until after that I had walked back into my cell when this happened, it's very anticlimactic, it could have done without it to be honest. I had a few bugs while playing like getting stuck in a gap in some glass and having puzzles randomly show as solved and open the next room. The game also lacks any sort of feedback that you have completed a puzzle when you are far from the exit. Thought it's worth mentioning that the trailer includes a lot of things that are just not in this game, this guy has made a lot of ReThink games so I can only imagine he posted the wrong trailer.
Achievements (7/7)
Achievements are for completing all puzzles and reaching the end, should take 2-3 hours without a guide, less with one.
Settings/Accessibility/Misc
Auto saves as well as manual saving and loading. Rebindable keyboard controls. According to other reviews there can be performance issues. The game also includes an old version of the game on startup which is completely different.
TL;DR
Rethink is a puzzle game where you split and refract coloured lasers in a 3D environment. 38 levels. Quite difficult, Lots of trial and error. Half-assed story. A few bugs. Manual save and load system. Achievements are for completion of all levels. Awesome game!
Fun little puzzle game, not too difficult and it ends before the concept gets old. Worth a try if you like puzzle games!
