I had put a quick, positive review up when I had only played this one a little bit, wanted to do a more in-depth one with a few hours under my belt. A full on traditional TD game, this delight has scratched my itch for the genre. For starters, the making of the maze is central to the game play. I know a lot of players like that, and this game has it in spades, though it can be a bit tricky to get the hang of it at first. The play area is sadly smaller than I would like, but not horribly so. It does have traps scattered about, which you try to work into the maze as you grow your path. They vary, and can be moved, for a cost. There is a wide variety of tower, with an interesting upgrade system. There are five elements, and the basic towers are of one of these, each with it's own attack range and style, straight, half circle, and full circle being the most common. These can go up in level, so far I think 5 is the top, however they are NOT upgraded individually, and can only be purchased at their specific level. There are recipes, called Refactors, (yes, the game name) to make the more complex towers out of the lesser ones. You get to pick one of three at each level, as you unlock them. These are quite complex, with elements adding to their abilities, and each with a special ability as well. These can be added together to create the most powerful level of tower type! It is quite the learning curve. There is a nice variety of foes, with some nasty bosses, to go with this. There are no flying monsters, but I don't fault this, as at the start the spawn point and your base are very close together, fliers would not work. The game does allow you to speed it up, however as near as I can tell you cannot control the towers target preferences, something I do miss. There are times when they target a foe different from the one I would prefer. There are sadly no strategic or tactical options, once you have set up your maze for each level, it is really fire-and-forget, and you can only watch. The game, as is, is very fun, an easy two thumbs up. It falls short of great, however, due to the lack of a good story or campaign mode, which is often the real difference maker. It does have several modes, and I think six levels of difficulty, though I have yet to defeat level five. Endless mode allows for a wide variety of run-specific rules, which allows you to shift the difficulty from very easy, to very hard. There is also a challenge mode, but I have yet to really explore that. All in all, the final product is a TD game well worth exploring... ADDENDUM: Fifteen hours in, and it is starting to feel repetitive. The core mechanic is good, but the wrapping is bland. I still enjoy it, and I frel like at fifteen hours I got my moneys worth, but my endorsement is not as enthusiastic. Will probably play a bit more, but I am nearing the end of my interest.
Seems interesting at first but the game mechanics are convoluted and the RNG ruins it. Building paths is a pain with the stupid ass Tetris blocks. Also the translations are REALLY bad in some spots, like wtf does "It MUST be criticl if shoot" mean??
Great tower defense
Heavily RNG based TD that needs refactoring. Definitely possible, but less strategy and more adaptive response under pressure. Most levels will wind up by 'the skin of the teeth' with some balancing issues being hard to compensate for (Targets can be frozen, but not really slowed. Invisible enemies can waltz halfway up to a refactor turret before anything can target it.). If I was more of a gambling man, I might sometimes play this just to see what'd give me, less play it for a proper challenge. Most discussions I've seen about this balancing defer playing levels 5 and/or 6, and going straight into endless mode. Dev claims they just forgot to update the version number, but multiple posts confirm they either didn't implement the final patch correctly, or something else occurred, as some users with the correct version number do have noticeable differences. Don't anticipate a fully update Steam client, as they've moved on.
An interesting twist on TD with some unique game mechanics & an attractive female character. Lack of Steam Cloud support is annoying (you will lose your progress if you delete the game).
