A refreshing throwback game of the old SPI/TAHGC games: but there are a few twists. The tutorial will have you up and running quickly. A gem for $4.99.
(En castellano tras la reseña en la lengua de la Pérfida Albión) A great adaptation of this already classic game by Mark Herman, fast, tense when it comes to deciding what to move, when to move it and it is one of those games that as soon as you finish a game you are asking for revenge from your friend by swapping sides. A no-nonsense functional interface, a good help system, following the turn order, a great soundtrack.... For that price, it's a gift... The next game in the series (Waterloo 1815) has enough changes to make it its own game, but you can start playing in minutes if you already know the series.... and soon Rebel Fury.... Live or die for Dixie!
Enjoyable, playable Gberg game in an hour or less. Some thinking to do for both sides. A few odd things like the sharpshooter can really gum things up and are pretty gamey. Also biggest complaint is the 1d6 swings that can happen but hey, it's a game. There is some subtle strategy for sure and it's a clean design. I just bought the deluxe board game version of this and its sister game about Waterloo. Less than 15 units on the map at any time, play alternates. I overall enjoyed it a lot.
Good light war game that plays at a fast pace. I hope more scenarios are added!
Extremely easy to pick up and play. Perfect for when you've only got 20-30 minutes spare but feel the wargaming itch coming on. AI seems competent enough to provide a challenge at first. More scenarios would be nice but at it's current price it's hard to complain.
Good little game, well worth playing. Does indeed remind me a bit of the games I played back in the 70s from Avalon Hill and SPI, but with some interesting modern twists. Simple, easy to pick up but fun to play.
This game is a faithful recreation of the Gettysburg board game. The AI plays very well, and the rules all seem to be in place, I have not tried multiplayer yet, but if you are interested this game I would definitely suggest buying the steam version to see if you like it as it is a great value considering the cost of the actual board game.
"Player suffers an exploding caisson" one battle in three. God only knows how the Civil War was fought for so long with such shoddy artillery ammunition. Now as the Confederates, I can't win a single engagement because the Union Army gets fives or sixes on the die every time, thirteen times in a row in this particularly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. This was clearly written by someone with a political axe to grind. The board game never reached this level of nonsense. Grow up.
An excellent implementation of the game, making it easy to follow all the rules with no effort.
