Pretty fun!

I cover a wide range of genres both paid and unpaid, providing unbiased opinions as well as regular giveaway events.

Decent Speed runner game
It's okay. You complete each level, fight a boss or two here and there by racing, and try to reach the end of the level without exploding since your shoes will explode if you are airborne too long. Recharge them by running and jumping once you jump it has to be recharged, while also upgrading your shoes with more skills and effects so you can return and confront some of the same stages with higher ratings. Nothing more than that, think Neon White without the story/characters.
Really fun. I enjoyed the platforming challenges. A good solid 8 hours if you're not going for perfect ranks. Sometimes buggy when you get stuck on edges, but not too annoying.
Quick Description: -Razed is a brightly colored futuristic platformer that demands that you to never stop moving. This game looks really cool visually, but completely falls apart fundamentally. Not only are you limited in the frequency that you jump or use abilities, but just turning a corner feels really odd. Razed shoots itself in the foot by making the basic mechanics so unintuitive and tedious, so this is not a game I can recommend to anyone. What's Good: -The visuals are the star and the only reason I own this game. I picked this up on a key selling shop for less than $1. So even though the reviews are pretty mixed, I thought I should at least give it a try. I really like the bright colors and futuristic city that you get to explore. It has some similarities visually to games like Super Cloudbuilt and Cyber Hook. -The sound effects and music fit the game and sound good for the most part. I really don't have any complaints here. -There are collectibles in some of the levels that add an additional layer of challenge to each level. These collectibles will give you upgrades such as allowing you to jump more frequently. Could Use Some Changes: -Very mechanically flawed. It's hard to describe exactly why the movement feels so off. It kind of feels like you are pushing a wheel barrel around and so every time you turn in any direction you tip. I only played an hr but I never once felt in control while moving unless I was moving in a straight line. Sharp turns always feel weird b/c not only does it take your character too long to turn but it also takes a while for the camera to turn w/ you. -You must keep moving forward at all times or you risk blowing up. This magnifies the problem w/ the movement mechanics. -You are really limited in the amount of times you can jump and even when you do jump it feels like you are being held down by an anchor b/c it's the smallest jump I've ever seen in a platformer. -The camera angle is at an odd vantage point. I'm not sure if this would matter unless the movement mechanics were cleaned up, but the camera angle always feels a bit off. -All of these problems are things that you notice while playing and comparing them to better platformers. It all adds up to you never feeling like you are in control. Completing a level never feels rewarding b/c it doesn't feel like I'm really improving or having fun. Thoughts: -There are so many incredibly good platformers out there. There are a ton of amazing 2d precision platformers, 2d puzzle platformers, 3d platformers, first person platformers, etc and I'd recommend all of those games over Razed. I can't fault someone for giving this game a try if you can find it for a few dollars or under, but otherwise, save your money and time. Consensus: -Bottom Shelf Game (Tier 5 and makes up 10% of my reviews). It's possible that Razed just wasn't a good fit for me or I didn't give it enough time to really get a good idea of what it has to offer. I have a hard time believing that this game will transform all of a sudden in the later hours, but anything is possible. For the purposes of this review, pick up Super Cloudbuilt, Cyber Hook, or one of the many amazing 2d precision platformers out there like Celeste instead of Razed.
Niesamowicie szybka i dynamiczna gra zręcznościowa, która wciąga. Polecam to szaleństwo. + krótkie poziomy + kolory + poziom trudności + zróżnicowane krainy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=te05-2Dolgg
This game is... an uncut gem. Brilliant at the core, yet unpolished. The vibe is absolutely wonderful, with wonderful stylized visuals and an energetic if somewhat repetitive soundtrack. The energy meter and unforgiving level design combine to create a platformer similar to games such as Super Meat Boy in how you must play them; repeatedly dying until you figure out how to beat the level. The "upgrade" system is somewhat baffling at first, though it seems the intention is to encourage players to revisit older levels, as some upgrade pickups in earlier levels are impossible to obtain until after you get a later upgrade. Some are intended to be impossible, but there is a hidden message if you get them anyways :) Some of the upgrades are fun. Stomping is just QTEs and strafeing is literally useless. Boosting is broken AF but in a fun way, good speedrunner bait. Mixed bag, really. The physics simply stink of Unity. You can get stuck on the edge of a platform instead of falling down, revealing our player is nothing more than a capsule collider at heart. A cylindrical collider would have suited this gameplay much better, I think. Another minor gripe is that the instant restart on the Y button cannot be triggered after you die, forcing you to spend a second staring at a white screen if you don't press it early enough. I also wish that the upgrade pickups had ghosts upon replaying a level, so you could see where they were again after collecting them for the first time. I don't think this game has had any updates though, so I doubt any of those issues will get fixed. Overall, it's a fun little game, and I hope the three people that made it happen have found other good gigs to use their talents at. The website for "Warpfish Games" is no longer up, and this was their only ever proper release anyways. Worth picking up for sure, especially if it's on sale.
This game makes me sad. I really want to give the devs the classic "I'm not mad, just disappointed" spiel. All the pieces of a good speedrun game are there, but restrictive level design and wonky physics (getting stuck on walls, getting turned 90 degrees for scraping your knee on anything) made me quit before finishing the final world. All this game needed was a bit more time in the playtesting oven and I would easily recommend RAZED, but as it is now there are way better games worth your time.
