Mixed feelings - great idea, but terrible AI ruins the experience Pros: Great concept of large-scale battles with many units on the battlefield. Huge modding potential - the ability to add custom weapons, vehicles, maps and completely change the game experience. Good customization options that allow players to create their own scenarios and battles. Simple but fun gameplay that could be amazing with better AI. Cons: The AI is the biggest problem of this game. The bots feel completely useless without the player. They are unable to make proper decisions, use advantages, or act like a real army. Even when your team has better equipment, more soldiers, and a clear advantage, your bots can still lose to enemies who only have basic weapons. The campaign is especially disappointing. It feels like it was never properly tested by the developers. The outcome of battles often depends more on random events than strategy or player skill. There is almost no feeling of progression or tactical planning. The behavior of bots is also extremely inconsistent. Enemy soldiers can kill you from half the map away with a pistol or other weak weapons, while your own teammates can stand right next to enemies and do nothing. Vehicles are another major issue. Even when you have better tanks, vehicles, or equipment, friendly bots use them so poorly that they become almost useless. It feels like the enemy team has a huge advantage simply because their AI works better. Aircraft are also badly balanced against bots. Hitting them is often almost impossible because they either crash without dying or ignore damage completely. At the same time, enemy aircraft can destroy you in one attack run before you even have time to react. All of this happens even on normal difficulty, and higher difficulties can feel unfair rather than challenging. I have almost 100 hours in this game, so this is not a review from someone who just played for 20 minutes. The sandbox battles are fun — jumping into a 100 vs 100 fight, creating chaos and shooting enemies can still be entertaining. But the problem is that the main long-term content, especially the campaign, is simply not enjoyable. The developers keep updating the campaign, but it still feels like a mode that was never properly tested. The same AI problems remain, and without the modding community this game probably would have been forgotten a long time ago. Mods are the main reason Ravenfield stays interesting. The community adds the variety, content and replayability that the base game is missing. Final thoughts: Ravenfield has a great idea and amazing potential thanks to mods and customization, but the weak AI completely ruins the main gameplay experience. The game needs better bot behavior, better balancing, and more testing before it can become the great battle simulator it tries to be.
这游戏作者真扫码了 瞎几把更新以前好玩的模组现在用不了了。本来就是靠创意工坊活着的游戏mod订阅了都不生效还玩啥,回家种地吧
Zov oder ZSU NAXUI ICH GEHE NACH NAXUI, ACHTUNG! FEUER! WOFÜR IST DAS? ICH BIN FÜHRER HIFLER, SCHWEINE!
it is really fun i have not gotten bored of the game and the mods are crazy cool
This game feels like the old days of playing Battlefield 2 for hours after school. It's simple, chaotic, and just pure fun. If you miss those classic sandbox battles, this game scratches that itch perfectly.
arcade is the is one of the worse gamemodes ive ever played
I don't like combat games. BUT RAVENFIELD EXISTS, so I do like combat games
This game was a fun toy for a while, but the shooting and movement feel bad. I would have thought that these would be where the craftsmanship was invested in considering the style, but it's mediocre there. I hope the style stays the same, but the gameplay feels bad. Switching stances, leaning, and sprinting feel extremely rigid and clunky. I actually didn't mind the aiming and recoil feeling very floaty and physics based at first, but it's so extreme that you end up having to fight compensating and overcorrecting for it when switching targets quickly. A lot of reload animations have that common, deceptive issue where the weapon will appear to be completely reloaded, but because the animation didn't completely finish (such as the weapon being brought back up to the shoulder by the shooter), you'll reset it accidentally by canceling out of it. It's especially bad with launchers. I wish multiplayer with a small group was a development priority. The early access period is excessive, and I wish Steam would turn the notice on the store page bright orange or red to deter people from purchases like this for when they exceed, say, 3, 5, or 10 years. It still says "The full release of Ravenfield is scheduled to happen around 2021" in the Early Access notice. ???
