About
Tired of life in the big city? Escape to an American ranch. In this ranch life simulator, you’ll have to find your place in a rural and sometimes unforgiving world.
You can keep eating fast food like before, or start growing healthy vegetables to prepare your own meals. Cook freshly caught fish and enjoy a glass of fresh milk. You’ll have access to a wide variety of recipes with different levels of complexity. Prepare your meals in the kitchen, on the grill, or over a campfire.
Plant your favorite vegetables in garden beds or in a greenhouse. Create beautiful garden arrangements using flowers, vegetables, and fruit. Grow, water, and harvest your crops. Pick apples in the orchard and plant your favorite flowers along the path. Mow the grass yourself or get help from living lawnmowers, such as cows.
The ranch you purchase will need plenty of repairs. Patch the holes in the roof, fill the cracks in the walls, and paint the rooms in colors of your choice. Once you can afford it, replace the furniture, redesign the interior, and buy decorations for the fireplace or even potted plants.
Use the money you earn to expand your workshop. Buy additional tools and equipment. Build increasingly complex structures from boards you cut yourself. Where will you begin? With a bookcase, a fence around the pasture, or perhaps a birdhouse?
Restore a forgotten car and use it to travel into town. Give it a new paint job, repair the engine, replace the tires, and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing the finished result.
Ride an ATV along nearby forest trails, walk through the woods gathering mushrooms, or take photographs of the animals you encounter. Explore your vast ranch on horseback. Visit the shooting range, go fishing, light a campfire, or have a barbecue in the nearby gazebo.
Eat well, get enough sleep, avoid overworking yourself, and enjoy the many available activities! Learn to play the harmonica, beat your personal records, and take on new challenges.
Raise and sell animals, including cows and chickens. Feed them with animal feed or let them graze in the pastures, and make sure they always have access to water. Breed cows, collect eggs, and raise livestock for sale. Put your heart into caring for them. Petting is highly encouraged!
Should you decide to get a dog, you won’t regret it. Take care of your loyal companion and let it help with your work by herding animals into the pastures. You can also play fetch together.
Relax with Rancher: A New Life!

Honestly.. This doesn't deserve "mostly negative" reviews. I rarely write reviews, but seeing this is.. sad. Guys, it's an early access game. It just launched. Give it a moment. It's also really cheap for what you get. Sure, optimisation could use some work, but from what I've gathered, they're working on it. Autosave is missing, which just caused me to lose a lot of progress after a crash.. but man does this game have potential. I really enjoyed cleaning out the house, repairing it, etc. Some things are vague, like where to get new animals (apparently just follow the asphalt road until it gives you a "remote location" option), but again.. It's EARLY ACCESS. Don't buy early access if you're going to bash it! I run it perfectly fine on a 4080 pc and a 2070 laptop. Granted, after a while of playing, cooking comes with a delay, but I just save, quit to menu & log back in. Whatever. Dev's are active in the discord and are trying to help whenever possible. Says a lot about the team. They want to make it work, so help them do so. Get the game with potential and give feedback where necessary. :)

I don't understand why all the negative reviews. I've completed the barn and house renovations without any issues other than some FPS drops.
I have been looking forward to this game after having spent at least 3 hours on the demo. Being in the discord for the game, I am able to see exactly all of the hard work the dev's have done to make the game be eligible for early release. And that is what most people who write negative reviews forget : The game is in Early Access. The game is not fully released yet. It will consist of bugs, it will have things that aren't out yet, it will require adjustments so that your particular computer can run it. That is how game development works. The developers of this game are so on top of it, they've helped me out with a few questions, and that is what I absolutely enjoy seeing. Compared to the Demo, this Early Access has so much more that is available, it runs so much smoother, hasn't made me motion sick at all, and has been a joy to play and I will most definitely keep playing. To everyone that complains : This has JUST come out, they are NOT people who run with a super rich company such as RE, BG3, etc. This has been one of the better games that have come out in a long time, and I sincerely think that, if you communicate on things and let them know in the discord, that you will realise they take feedback extremely well, and will update as quick as they possible can. I was, in no way, shape or form, paid to say any of this. I simply enjoy this game, and I can't wait to see what else they are bringing out with further updates.
Its got its bugs, as EARLY ACCESS games do. Which by the way, are actively being fixed as reports roll in! But I played five hours and had a great time. Can't wait to see what else the dev brings to the game.
I really wanted to like this game and honestly gave this game more than a fair chance (+/- 13hours) and I cannot recommend it. It feels like the developer deliberately designed many of its mechanics to be as frustrating and time-consuming as possible. The cooking mechanics, both at the oven and outdoors are awkward and frustrating. Same goes for the wood chopping, wood sawing, driving, climbing of ladders and even the fishing (an activity that is supposed to be relaxing). Then there is the painting. You have to refill your roller after every 4th wall, but you can cannot take paint up the scaffolding. So, you are constantly climbing up and down the damn ladder at the same speed as a snail stuck in peanut butter, because the ladders are painfully slow to climb, which turns a simple task into a complete waste of time. I also tried to grow cucumbers and carrots. The game tells you to take care of the plants while they grow, but the watering system does not work too well, coz some of the plants cannot be watered. After all these hours, my plants are still growing. All I have to say on this subject is that plants don’t even take this long to grow in Farming Sim and if this was the developer’s whole idea then there should at least be other ways to trick the player into thinking that they are playing a farming sim. The biggest problem I have with this game is quality of life. Games are supposed to be enjoyable. There is a huge difference between a game that is challenging and a game that actively fights the player with simple tasks. Life is frustrating enough. I don't play games so that basic activities like cooking, chopping wood, painting a wall, driving somewhere or watering a plant can add to my daily frustration. Like I said, I really wanted to like this game and I gave it a lot more time than it deserved. My friends refunded it because the constant friction in most of the activities completely killed the enjoyment them as well. The developer needs to understand that quality-of-life features aren't about making a game easy. They're about making the game fun to play and this game is not fun at all.
keeps crashing during gameplay says unity dll error and i have a 4070 rtx super nvidia and a I 13 gen cpu There is bugs but i do reccommend because of the dev team and pubilshers behind it and i have seen tons of updates since launch so I think they are working fast as they can to fix any bugs reported also got consider not one person has same pc setup and the game is launching in early access when you get a game in early access the entire reason is we as gamers report bugs and also make suggestions in order to help the devs make the game better and add things we like to see and bonus you get the game way cheaper then it will be when it goes to full release some people just dont understand what early access means this game has tons of potenial
The gameplay is relaxing. Some is tedious, but it's really not annoying unless you lose track of time irl while baking cheesecake because you're zoned out on hitting nails in game. That was almost a ♥♥♥♥♥♥' disaster. If you're looking for a game that has potential to grow more, but still has more than enough to showcase it in early access, then go for it. Give it a try. There's far worse early access games out there with way less to do. If you have a problem with playing too many simulation games like I do, you'll definitely find some familiar mechanics with a much more appealing look, but there's a lot of their own touch too. I'm not far in and already heavily enjoying it for winding down at the end of the day of a near cheesecake disaster. I have absolutely zero lag issues. It's day one of early access, meaning I expected there to be lag, but none. Perhaps if you have issues with a game in early access, you could click the box that says "attach pc specs to this review", and the developer could help you figure out your issue better, or contact them through their support. Also, make sure you're maintaining your computers, because if you're not taking care of your ♥♥♥♥, it doesn't matter what your specs are.
Player it at release. For now I cannot recommend it. With a ton of hot fixes and patches? I could and most definetly would! The game has insane potential and I love the details. But it is a buggy mess rn. No autosave, no working sounds (please fix the chainsaw. It's not part of any sound option and it's LOUD!! Also it's not working...) The idea is great, the world looks stunning, the type of gameplay is awesome. I really had fun while playing. So, if your willing to wait, go for it. But for now this game is not in accaptable state for selling and especially not for this price. Early Access is not an excuse for publishing a game that does not work. And please fix the difference between the missiontext on tablet and screen while playing. I ended up making screenshots because half the info for any mission was missing in the screen menu xD I don't know about the grafics some people warn about. Mine worked fine. I only had to set from ultra to high and the game was still amazing to look at. All in all: VERY promising game and great Idea. I looked for a game like this and was not disappointed. But the price and the state of release do not add up. If you want to buy this game, wait for the reviews to get better. I'm gonna edit my review once it's playable and okay for the price
