30€ are far too much for this game. It's worth 10€ at most. It gets boring very quickly. The ships you unlock and upgrade with heavy grinding all play more or less the same. I'm ignoring the fact that it is nothing like a classic Raiden STG.
This game's main problem is that it doesn't know it's audience. It's not for Raiden fans as the only relation this has to the Raiden franchise is it's skin; weapons, graphics, enemy models, bosses are all straight-asset rips from Raiden V - there's nothing new or interesting to look at here if you've played that game. The biggest divergence from the mainline series is this isn't a vertical shmup, but I wouldn't count that as a negative as this isn't what the game advertises itself as, instead this is a "Roguelike twin-stick shooter". I wouldn't even call it that due to the only thing randomised between runs are the upgrades presented to you at each level up: it's a VS clone with a Raiden skin layered over it, and the best way I can personally describe the entire game in my opinion is it just feels lazy. The presentation is pretty poor, there's not been a great deal of effort put in to the English translation, readability of projectiles and pickups on the map is overall pretty poor, there's no kind of stage-setting for anything that's actually happening, in-level missions are very uninspiring and bland (defeat 400 enemies, defeat the huge enemy), there are only 2 game modes with 6 maps, the intro movie that plays whenever you boot up the game is literally just demo gameplay, the graphics are pretty abysmal and low-resolution, loading times are abysmal even running from a Gen4 m.2 and worst of all, even though this is a PC port there are absolutely no graphics or display options - you can't even change the display resolution. When you compare this to similar survivor-style games like Vampire Survivors or Death Must Die, there is substantially less overall content, charm or replayability, but the asking price is up to 6x higher. If this was the same price, or even just a couple of dollars more I would be far less critical of this game and highlight it's not bad to kill an hour on your steam deck with, but right now 30 bucks for something which feels like Moss just slapped it together and booted it out of the door as quickly as possible to try and cash in on VS's popularity I'd urge anyone to just leave this alone. Raiden fans will hate how different it is and how minimal-effort it feels, everyone else will play a better and cheaper survivors-like from the hundreds of others available.
Nice mixture of Vampire Survivors and Shump gameplay mechanics. Yes, you have to loot for hours (typical roguelike mechanics). graphic is so lala Sound and music is good (last stage has some classic raidentunes ) gameplay: ok (if you are looking for a real shmup, try other games, if you want a vampire survivors with real gameplay than buy it) I hope the next raiden game will be a real shmup. Perhaps Moss can release a collector edition of all raiden games.

Really only recommended if you're in that extremely tight niche of people who enjoy the survivors-like(?) genre and classic shmup action. Otherwise, what is here is really rough for modern standards. It's hard for me to recommend this game to anyone, but it isn't a bad game. It just has a very confusing audience to appeal to, especially with confusingly out of date visual design and weirdly variable visual quality. On the other side, they let Go Sato out of the basement to compose more bangers, which is always a good thing.
This worth for USD 10 / JPY 1000 / KRW 10000 if you like or you have nostalgia of: 1. Raiden series a LOT (1~5, not spinoffs) but you already own most of them 2. You like dual stick shooter genre 3. You're already familiar to games with 'grind and upgrade by replaying until you get strong' This is because this game have multiple flaws as follows: 1. Mission design quality is nowhere to match with any Raiden games (at least what I remember) 2. Graphics looks way much worse than Raiden 3. You read it correctly: I wrote the Raiden 3. It looks that bad. 3. Ship don't fire after cutscene until you off the hand of the right stick and push it again. 4. Completely unremarkable Raiden NOVA background music tracks while many Shoot'em up games are known to have a great soundtracks, and Raiden series are one of them with great music. 5. Boss fight(Mid, Big, Huge, don't matter) don't feel satisfying if their parts are destroyed, or killed. Raiden 4 was way much satisfying and better and correctly built. Raiden 3 was satisfying enough. Raiden 2? It's still a masterpiece. RayStorm was better than what Raiden NOVA implemented while that game is 320x240 back in PlayStation 1. It's that bad. Still, I endorse the attempt. With some quality pass, this attempt may become a well-made game. Will they update the game with many fixes on mission design? Hard to think so, this game's already 1 year old.
Anyone around in the 1990s will likely remember the original arcade experience in amusement halls, bowling alleys, fish & chips shops etc. - That experience remained largely unchanged for almost three decades... Until now. If you came here expecting that two player capable arcade cabinet / couch vertical scrolling shooter experience, don't. Nova brings a more open twin-stick shooter very much akin to the likes of Vampire Survivor. How does that work out? As someone who got hooked on games like Raptor: Call of the Shadows and Tyrian because of Galaxian and THIS FRANCHISE, I find myself pleasantly surprised. Raiden Nova plays like Super Stardust in the Raiden Universe with shops to purchase new fighters and upgrades with ingame currency - RELAX! No live service shenanigans to had here, unless you're referring to an online scoreboard where you can compare with other players on how you stack up. There are two modes of play for you to grind for your shopping credits and clock a high score. Arcade is where you progress and unlock new stages to be played in Unlimited. Arcade rounds count down from five minutes and conclude with a boss fight complete with cinematic entrance. Unlimited count up and ends with a Game Over instance (outta HP). Either way every enemy you eliminate will earn XP for that given run, where weapons and abilities are offers upon leveling up. Like prior games where you'd find ship packing weapons can be typically found carrying bombs and health refills. Throughout a given run you have objectives posted, that when completed drop a lootbox containing upgrades, bombs, HP refills and credit bonuses. Special objectives will award credit bonuses and upgrade gems (that work like a level up). Raiden Nova won't be for everyone, but for franchise diehards open to the idea of mixing things up with a Rogue-lite twin stick shooter experience... It's definitely an interesting take on the franchise. Unless you fall into that camp, it could be a tricky sell outside of a Steam Sale. Whether or not you wait for a sale, it's definitely a highly engaging time waster for an arcade chillout session that won't skimp out on a challenge.
Not enough shmup in this survivor clone. But for a deep discount I found it enjoyable.
